Glacier Peak High School football coach Shane Keck is looking forward to letting his new starting running back loose this season.

Senior Chrisvin Bonshe's moment has finally arrived.

Bonshe has been sitting behind Division I running backs, but Keck said he expects Bonshe to be one of the best backs in the state this season.

"He's really electric - very, very explosive and a touchdown waiting to happen," Keck said.

Despite not ever playing football until the ninth grade, Keck and his staff knew Bonshe was going to be a special player once he got his chance.

"You could see the natural ability - he was always a soccer player and wrestler - so he's got a lot of natural athleticism," Keck said. "He's kind of had to wait his turn. He got a taste last year and had some big, explosive plays, but, obviously, we're hoping for a lot more of that this year."

Glacier Peak is coming off a 7-3 season that ended with a loss to Woodinville in the postseason.

The Grizzlies graduated 26 seniors from that team, so Keck knows it's going to be up to a lot of new players to get back to the postseason.

After being a pass-heavy team in the past, Keck said the Grizzlies will be looking to run the ball first this year.

If Glacier Peak is to repeat its success from the past few seasons, Bonshe will play a big part.

"We feel like we've got a really good offensive line - maybe one of the best we've had since I've been here - so (Bonshe) is going to have a really strong offensive line in front of him," Keck said.

Bonshe will also get time on the other side of the ball in the defensive backfield.

"He's also going to play some corner, but when you look at where he's going to affect the team most it's definitely going to be on offense as a running back," Keck said.
