Washington high school (WIAA) 4A girls basketball regionals 2024: Camas, Woodinville on collision course?

4A GSHL champion and reigning state finalist Papermakers grab top seed after facing brutal out-of-state schedule

With the 16-team field set for regional round of the 2023-24 WIAA Class 4A girls basketball tournament, here is SBLive WA’s weekend overview of the matchups, players to watch – and game score predictions:

---

CLASS 4A GIRLS REGIONALS (Bracket)

2023-24 Washington high school girls basketball, districts: Camas vs. Sumner

TOP BILLING

Top-seeded Camas sought-out national competition - survived - and has since flourished in pursuit of first WIAA basketball championship.

BEST BET TO SCORE 30

Not only is Davis of Yakima guard Esmeralda Galindo a three-level scorer, she is among state leaders in getting to the free-throw line.

RIDE THIS DARKHORSE

Eastlake is the defending state champion as a No. 12 seed, and still plays championship-level defense. If offense gets going ... hmm!!

2022-23 Washington girls basketball: Kamiakin at Camas in Class 4A regionals at Battle Ground High School MAIN

PROTECTED-GAME PREVIEW CAPSULES

No. 1 Camas (18-6) vs. No. 8 Gonzaga Prep (19-5)

4 p.m. Saturday, Battle Ground High School

Skinny: Freshman Ayiah Cornwell is next great star out of Spokane - but Camas knows how to handle scoring-minded point guards (see Brooklynn Haywood).

Pick: Camas, 64-51.

____

No. 2 Woodinville (24-2) vs. No. 7 Tahoma (20-3)

6 p.m. Friday, Issaquah High School

Skinny: 4A KingCo champions boast more height ... and 3-point shooting firepower than the Bears, who are coming off up-and-down district tournament.

Pick: Woodinville, 66-53.

____

No. 3 Kamiakin (23-1) vs. No. 6 Bothell (20-5)

6 p.m. Saturday, Kamiakin High School

Skinny: Intriguing matchup of rangy, defensive-minded teams who create havoc. Emaunii Smith-McKylee Hawkins paint-circling dance could be fun.

Pick: Kamiakin, 60-56.

____

No. 4 Sumner (23-2) vs. No. 5 Davis of Yakima (18-4)

4 p.m. Saturday, Auburn High School

Skinny: Won't find two more physically-imposing guards than Lainee Houillon (Sumner) and Esmeralda Galindo (Davis) - and teammates usually take a cue.

Pick: Sumner, 71-66.

____

2023-24 Washington high school girls basketball, districts: Bellarmine Prep vs. Camas

WINNER-TO-STATE-GAME PREVIEW CAPSULES

No. 9 Lake Stevens (18-4) vs. No. 16 Skyview (15-9)

6 p.m. Friday, Arlington High School

Skinny: Aside from senior Nisa Ellis, Viks' youth movement has carried the mail this season. Lake Stevens will need to find answer for Storm PG Kiera Parks.

Pick: Lake Stevens, 59-49.

____

No. 10 Bellarmine Prep (17-8) vs. No. 15 West Valley of Yakima (18-6)

6 p.m. Saturday, Tacoma Community College

Skinny: Rams PG Laiken Hill will be a handful - and Lions have guard tandem to deal with her in Jada Travis and Kyla Frazier, who have led late-season surge.

Pick: Bellarmine Prep, 61-50.

____

No. 11 Emerald Ridge (18-7) vs. No. 14 Kamiak (15-9)

8 p.m. Saturday, Auburn High School

Skinny: Jaguars have seen plenty of good guards in 4A SPSL - but none quite like Southern Utah signee Bella Hasan, who will see plenty of Naomi Senato.

Pick: Emerald Ridge, 48-44

____

No. 12 Eastlake (17-9) vs. No. 13 Kentwood (18-8)

6 p.m. Saturday, Issaquah High School

Skinny: Wolves start WIAA title defense facing 4A NPSL's best player - physical PG Jessica Ajayi. Good thing Wolves welcome as much contact as possible.

Pick: Eastlake, 64-48.
