Washington (WIAA) high school 4A girls basketball state playoffs: Live quarterfinal updates, scores, top performers, bracket updates (2/29/2024)
The WIAA Class 4A girls championships resumed Thursday at 9 a.m. with quarterfinal games in the Tacoma Dome.

Winners move to the state semifinals Friday - all with a chance to play for a WIAA championship Saturday.
Eastlake is the defending state champion, but the 12th-seeded Wolves lost to Davis of Yakima, 59-54, in the first round Wednesday.

Final (OT): No. 4 Sumner 54, No. 6 Bothell 52
Up next: Friday semifinals at 3:45 p.m against No. 1 Camas.
Sumner found itself in two different 15-point deficits against Bothell, but the Spartans defense and free throw shooting kept them in the game.
Kawehi Borden scored a game-high 19 points for the Spartans and brought down eight rebounds while Olivia Collins added 14 and seven rebounds.

Final: No. 1 Camas 64, No. 7 Tahoma 23
Up next: Friday semifinals at 3:45 p.m against No. 4 Sumner.
The state favorites couldn't have asked for a better start to their tournament, leading from the first minute on - and threatening a WIAA single-game record in the process.
Addison Harris led four players in double figures with 18 points as Camas shot 52.2 percent from the floor (24-for-46).
Things went so well, Camas experienced the rare 40-point "mercy rule" as a state tournament went it went up 53-13 on two Keirra Thompson free throws a the 3:44 mark of the third quarter.
Camas had a 43-point lead later in the quarter - 60-17 - and was close to Central Valley's 4A single-game record for largest margin of victory (45 points), set in 2018. But it rested most starters by the end of the third quarter.
In any case, Papermakers' girls coach Scott Thompson was pleased with his team's performance, from start to finish.
"I think that plays to our experience," Thompson said. "This is Round 3 for all of them. ... It feels like we've done all of this."
Next up: Sumner, which gave the Papermakers a battle in the District 3/4 semifinals.
"You've got to pack a lunch with Sumner," Thompson said. "They just play so hard ... everything is going to be hard tomorrow night."

Final: No. 5 Davis of Yakima 59, No. 3 Kamiakin 48
Up next: Friday semifinals at 5:30 p.m. against No. 8 Gonzaga Prep.
For the second consecutive day in the Tacoma Dome, Davis of Yakima jumped out to an early lead against its opponent.
This time around, though, the Pirates didn't let that early lead slip away and they handed Kamiakin just its second loss of the season to advance to 4A semifinals Friday.
Davis avenged a 51-44 loss to the Braves from the regular season back in December.
"We almost got them in December and it's kind of like a rivalry," Davis coach Akil White said. "Me and (Kamiakin coach Lane Schumacher) have played each other every year the last four years. They beat us last year and went to the Final Four and we beat them this year to go to the Final Four. It's one of those things where we're not unfamiliar and have kind of been wanting this game for a while."
Much of the Pirates' scoring came from Esmeralda Galindo who scored a game-high 29 points, and Cheyenne Hull who added 14 points and eight rebounds.
Emaunii Smith scored a team-high 14 for Kamiakin and also brought down 10 rebounds.

Final: No. 8 Gonzaga Prep 50, No. 2 Woodinville 44
Up next: Friday semifinals at 5:30 p.m. against No. 5 Davis of Yakima.
Woodinville not recording its first field goal of the game until there was a minute left in the first quarter was just a sign of things to come in Gonzaga Prep's 50-44 upset victory over the Falcons in the 4A quarterfinals.
The Bullpups held Woodinville to just six points in the first half, but the Falcons found their true form in the second quarter and went into the break with a 21-16 lead.
Gonzaga Prep forced the Falcons back to their first-quarter struggles in the third quarter, limiting Woodinville to just four points and holding the Falcons without a field goal until about the 2:00 mark.
Aylah Cornwall and Olivia McIntyre each scored a team-high 14 points for the Bullpups. Cornwall also brought down 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Woodinville's Jaecy Eggers scored a game-high 17 points and hauled in nine rebounds.
