WASHINGTON NOMINEES
Devin Coppinger, Nooksack Valley girls basketball: UW signee just does what she does - even in all-star games. She scored an event-best 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting with seven rebounds and four steals in 1A's win over 2A.
Davis Fogle, Anacortes boys basketball: Put on a show at the WIBCA "Futures Game" with an event-high 39 points, 16 coming in the first 141/2 minutes in leading Team Pepple to a resounding win at Bellevue College.
Jessie Gilbert, Ocosta softball: Top ace pitcher in the 'B' ranks was back at it again, debuting with a 15-strikeout no-hitter in a 13-0 win over Onalaska. Gilbert also tossed a no-hitter against the Loggers in last year's 2B district tournament.
Ethan Hedgpeth, Tri-Cities Prep baseball: Senior posted four consecutive multiple-hit games to start 2024, and drove in 12 runs in his past three outings for defending Class 2B champions against Northwest Christian and White Swan.
Kristian Iniguez, Toppenish boys soccer: Sophomore midfielder's penalty-kick goal shut door on defending Class 1A champion Seattle Academy in 2-0 win, and his match-tying assist and shootout goal led Wildcats to 2-1 come-from-behind win over rival Highland.
Jordana King, Garfield softball: There is a reason why this junior is headed to Stanford - she can really hit. Against Cascade Christian, King went 5-for-5 with two home runs, a triple and seven RBI in a lopsided win.
Jordan Lasher, Yelm boys track and field: Senior did not take long to not only set a personal-best mark in the pole vault, but he took over the early lead around the state with his 16-foot vault at a jamboree.
Ryana Moss, Neah Bay girls basketball: Sank five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points with 10 rebounds in leading the 1B all-stars to a win over the 2B squad. Moss was named the game's most valuable player.
Evan Stinson, Cheney boys basketball: WSU signee put on a perimeter shooting show with six 3-pointers from NBA-level range in first 10 minutes, finishing with a game-high 37 points in 3A all-stars win over 4A.
Allie Thomsen, Jackson softball: Whatever the sweet-swinging left-hander is hitting right now for the reigning Class 4A champions is going very far. The recent UW commit has five home runs (including two in jamboree), including two solo blasts in her first game against Inglemoor.
Orlando Young, Federal Way baseball: Junior shut down reigning 3A NPSL champion Auburn, allowing two hits and no earned runs over six innings while striking out 13 hitters in a 6-1 win. Also hit a two-run double.
