Matthew Brimhall, Senior, Snowflake - Brimhall has been absolutely destroying opponents defensively all season, and Friday was no different in No. 2 Snowflake’s 23-3 victory over No. 10 Prescott. Brimhall finished the night with 15 total tackles, four tackles for loss, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Navi Bruzon, Junior, Liberty - In the Open Division, top-ranked Liberty was able to take down No. 8 Sandra Day O’Connor 56-26. Bruzon had another outstanding night, completing 17 of his 26 pass attempts for 282 yards and three touchdowns.
Carter Crispin, Senior, Red Mountain - While it wasn’t an explosive night, he did what he needed to get the job done and help No. 6 Red Mountain defeat No. 14 Mesa 49-10. Completing 13 of his 22 pass attempts, he racked up 166 yards and four touchdowns. He also carried the ball three times for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Matthew Dixon, Senior, Notre Dame Prep - Dixon had an explosive night, finishing with 11 total tackles and six sacks for a loss of 31 yards to help top-ranked Notre Dame Prep defeat No. 8 Marana 65-36.
Will Galvan, Senior, Cactus - Helping the No. 4 Cactus Cobras pick up a 26-18 victory over No. 5 Horizon on Friday, Galvan carried the ball 23 times for 232 yards, and he caught four passes for 38 yards and two touchdowns.
Spencer Halvorson, Junior, Pinnacle - No. 4 Pinnacle was able to pull away from No. 5 Queen Creek to pick up a 24-14 win, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the defense. Leading the effort on the field for the Pioneers was Halvorson, who had nine total tackles, one tackle for loss, an interception returned for 31 yards and a fumble recovery.
Brandon Phelps, Junior, ALA-Gilbert North - In top-ranked ALA-Gilbert North’s game against No. 8 Bradshaw Mountain, Phelps had five receptions for a total of 146 yards and four touchdowns to help the Eagles defeat the Bears 55-20.
Isaac Stopke, Senior, Lake Havasu - Leaving everything he had on the field, Stopke was essential in No. 13 Lake Havasu’s 35-34 road win over No. 5 Yuma Catholic. Carrying the ball 43 times, he racked up an outstanding 335 yards and three touchdowns for the Knights.
Drew Tapley, Senior, Desert Mountain - It was a strong night for the senior quarterback in the 17-7 victory over No. 10 Millennium. Helping the No. 2 Wolves to a win, Tapley completed 28 of his 38 pass attempts for 384 yards and a touchdown.
Jordan Thomas, Senior, Canyon del Oro - Carrying the ball 15 times on the night, Thomas racked up 107 yards and two touchdowns to help the No. 6 Dorados top the No. 14 Thunderbird Titans 28-3.
