TACOMA — A back-and-forth contest turned in Glacier Peak's favor and they beat Sumner 57-52 on Thursday to move on to the 4A state tournament semifinals.

Tristan Bates led the Grizzlies with 15 points and Tucker Molina and Brayden Quantrille each added 11.

Down by seven points at the half, Glacier Peak cranked up their defense and only allowed 19 second half points. The Grizzly second half defense held Sumner's 3-point shooting to 2 of 11 and ultimately made the difference in the game.

Champ Spencer (16), Lamar Campbell (15) and Josh Lear (12) combined for 41 of the Spartans' 52 points.

Glacier Peak will take on Mount Si at 9 p.m. in the Tacoma Dome on Friday.

Sumner will play at 2 p.m. Friday against Federal Way in the losers bracket.
