Minnesota girls basketball state tournament updates throughout the Class 4A, 3A and 2A quarterfinals

MINNEAPOLIS -- The 2024 Minnesota (MSHSL) girls high school basketball state tournament begins on Wednesday, March 13 at Williams Arena and Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis.

The Class 4A, Class 3A and Class 2A quarterfinals begin on Wednesday, March 13.

Score updates, recaps and other news and notes will be updated on this page throughout the day. 


Class 4A Quarterfinals

Hopkins 66, White Bear Lake 39

The No. 1-seed Royals led the Bears 39-16 at halftime. Hopkins' Lauren Hillesheim led all scorers with 17 points. Liv McGill added 14 points, and Tatum Woodson added 12 points. Sarah Poepard led White Bear Laker with 11 points. 

Maple Grove 56, Lakeville North 55

Minnetonka 74, Andover 48

The Skippers scored the first basket of the game and never trailed as they cruise to the semifinals. Junior Aaliyah Crump scored 31 points on 14-of-26 shooting. Piper Engelby and Emma Frost led Andover with 13 points each.

St. Michael-Albertville 68Rosemount 57

The Knights were up 23-11 with nine minutes remaining in the first half, but the Irish twice fought to cut the lead to one possession in the game. St. Michael-Albertville's defense forced 23 turnovers, and the Knights ran for 25 points off turnovers. 

St. Michael-Albertville's Cail Jahnke led all scorers with 22 points. Amisha Ramlall led the Irish with 15 points.

And it as true. And I don't know what year it finally was when we won our first round game, but it took us four or five years in Class 4A basketball to try and win a state tournament game. ... Class 3A Quarterfinals

Benilde-St. Margaret's 75,  Minneapolis Roosevelt 40

Red Knights' senior Olivia Olson scored 35 points, and Zahara Bishop added 18 as Benilde-St. Margaret's defends its state title. Olivia Wren led Roosevelt with 17 points.

Stewartville 47, St. Peter 46 

Stewartville fought to take its first lead with 5:50 remaining in the game. St. Peter had an opportunity to win the game, but is missed the layup with one second remaining. The Tigers' Savannah Hedin led all scorers with 15 points. St. Peter's Rhyan Holmgren led the Saints with 14 points.

DeLaSalle 81, Totino-Grace 49

DeLaSalle's Aneisha Scott and Madalyn Blaylark led the Islanders with 14 points. The Islanders also dominated on the glass. They out-rebounded the Eagles 53-30. 

Totino-Graces' Chloe Nuss led all scorers with 28 points.

Alexandria 67, Rock Ridge 50

Alexandria duo Hadley Thul and MaCee Linow each scored 21 points. Anna Westby scored 20 for Rock Ridge. 


Class 2A Quarterfinals

Albany 58, Rochester Lourdes 41

Lourdes led Albany 21-20 at halftime, but the Huskies took the lid off the basket in the second half to score 38 points.

Albany's Kylan Gerards led all scorers with 26 points. Rochester Lourdes' Lauren Hust led it with 22 points.

Providence Academy 94, Perham 84

Perham kept up with the Lions in the opening minutes, but the Lions' poor 3-point shooting in the first half didn't continue in the second. They shot 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. 

Maddyn Greenway led all scorers with 49 points. Perham's Willow Thiel finished with 41 points. 

Minnehaha Academy 75, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 39

Addi Mack scored 29 points for the Redhawks, and Angel Hill added 29 points. 

Crosby-Ironton 44, New London-Spicer 63

Sophomore Tori Oehrlein scored 33 points on 15-of-21 scoring
