PHOENIX — Chris Howell led Torrey Pines to a 3-1 record in the Arizona division at the 2020 Border League Tournament in Phoenix over the weekend.

The Border League, created to give high school basketball players from California, Nevada and Arizona an opportunity to compete in the fall, took place Friday through Sunday across five different high schools in the Phoenix metro area.

Howell, a 6-foot-6 senior point guard, led the Falcons to wins over Brophy Prep (Arizona) and Highland (Arizona) in the first two games before falling to Calvary Christian (Florida) in the semifinals by one point. Torrey Pines bounced back with a big win over Mountain Pointe (Arizona) on Sunday to finish out the weekend.

Howell, who committed to St. Mary's College in September, averaged 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists per game during the four games.
