Here are Scorebook Live’s preseason Top 20 San Diego Section high school baseball rankings. The rankings are compiled by Scorebook Live California reporter Bodie DeSilva and will be released weekly during the regular season.

1. Helix

The Highlanders have the best pitching staff in the county.

2. Rancho Bernardo

Rancho Bernardo has seven college commits and return nine starters from last season.

3. Eastlake

The reigning Open Division Champs add Kai Saterstrom to the mix.

4. Poway

Poway returns a solid mix of pitching and hitting led by Ivran Romero.

5. Grossmont

The Foothillers return lots of hitting and pitching from last season’s division one runner-up team.

6. Point Loma

Ethan Gourson, Hunter Otjen, and Jeffrey Barber lead a very talented Pointers team.

7. Torrey Pines

The Falcons have seven college commits led by All-American third baseman Kevin Sim.

8. Cathedral Catholic

The Dons have a pitcher of the year candidate in UC Santa Barbara-signee Cooper Rons.

9. Patrick Henry

Patrick Henry made a huge jump last season and are among the favorites in division two this season.

10. Carlsbad

The Lancers return a ton of pitching and have one of the state’s best hitters in Pepperdine-signee Thomas Saggese.

11. Bonita Vista

The Barons return several top contributors from last season led by Cal State Fullerton-signee Nathan Nankil.

12. St. Augustine

The Saints have four local college commits in Angelo Peraza, Charlie Rhee, Fisher Pyatt, and Ryan Rivera.

13. Madison

Cal State San Marcos-signee Christian Becerra leads a young group of Warhawks.

14. La Costa Canyon

The Mavs returns a lot of hitting but not much pitching from last season.

15. San Marcos

The Knights have three college commits led by two-way standout Kyle Carr.

16. Valhalla

Kyle Casper and Joseph Ingrassia are two of the best prospects in the county.

17. Granite Hills

The Eagles return all of their pitching from last season and have All-CIF selection/Long Beach State-signee TK Parker at shortstop.

18. Del Norte

The Nighthawks return 15 of 16 players from last season led by Logan Parker, Garret Ostrander, and Tanner Lappin.

19. Scripps Ranch

Steven Lancia, Carter Foss, and Tyler Bremner are key returners that will need to make the next step.

20. Westview

The reigning division one champions return lots of hitting but lose five of their top pitchers.
