Congratulations to San Ramon Valley baseball outfielder Evan Balingit for being voted SBLive’s Northern California High School Athlete of the Week for March 14-20!

The senior helped lead the Wolves to a 3-0 week batting 7-10 with three runs scored, four RBIs, and six stolen bases.

Balingit received 54.05% of the vote, beating out Elk Grove's Aissa Silva who finished second with 24.75%. Las Plumas' Zane Denton finished third with 18.8% and Branham's Emma Fales finished fourth with 1.02%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for the week of March 14-20:

SOFTBALL:

Lynsey Chiala, Los Gatos:

Chiala pitched one-hit shutouts against Fremont and Burlingame in consecutive days, with 15 combined strikeouts. She also went 6-9 with a double, a triple, a home run, and seven RBIs.

Aissa Silva, Elk Grove:

Silva threw complete-game shutouts in both of the Herd's games last week, amassing 26 strikeouts in 13 innings. She also went 4-8 at the plate and drove in five runs.

Kira Morris, Eureka:

Morris threw a five-inning no-hitter and went 2-3 in a 10-0 rout of South Fork.

Marissa Martinez, Watsonville:

Martinez led Watsonville to a 3-0 week with 11 RBIs, two homers, and three doubles on 8-10 hitting.

Caroline Grimes, Del Oro:

Grimes threw complete-game shutouts against St. Francis (Sacramento) and Oak Ridge with 17 K's in 12 innings and also hit two home runs last week.

Emma Fales, Branham:

In a win against Milpitas, Fales threw a complete game shutout and went 3-3 with two runs scored. She also had another complete-game victory with no earned runs allowed against Wilcox, as well as two scoreless innings and a save against Gilroy.

Emmie Walker, Coalinga:

Walker led the Horned Toads to a 4-0 week going 11-16 with 13 stolen bases and scoring eight runs.

Ainsley Waddell, Sequoia:

Waddell scored a run, drove in a run, and tossed a two-hit shutout with 12 K's in a 3-0 win against St. Ignatius. In the Ravens' other game, a 10-0 win against Pioneer, she went 4-4 with a homer and four RBIs and also threw another shutout with eight strikeouts.

Melina Mendoza, Pinole Valley:

Mendoza led the Spartans to a two-game sweep of Salesian going 7-9 with three long balls, seven RBIs, and six runs scored.

Mariah Montalvo, St. Francis (Watsonville):

Montalvo blasted three home runs for six RBIs in a rout of Monte Vista Christian and went 3-4 with a homer and three RBIs in a 6-5 loss to North Monterey County. Alicia Mendez had three homers against Monte Vista Christian as well for the Sharks.

Grace Townsend, Cupertino:

In two games last week, Townsend went 7-7 with six RBIs and three runs scored.

Avery Motroni, Capuchino:

Motroni led the Mustangs to a 2-0 week by going 4-5 with five RBIs, a home run, and two walks.

Elon James, Manteca:

James went 6-11 with 10 RBIs in three games, including two home runs three doubles.

Ella Meyers, Monterey:

Meyers helped lead the Dores to a 3-1 record batting 8-13 with four home runs and nine RBIs.

Jessica Werthman, Archbishop Mitty:

Werthman tossed a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in an 8-0 win against Los Altos.

Jena Emerson, Live Oak (Live Oak):

In a pair of blowout wins, Emerson went 6-8 with four RBIs and pitched nine innings with one run allowed.

Rose Malen, Marin Catholic:

Malen went 2-1 in the circle with only one earned run and six baserunners allowed in 17 innings, and a whopping total of 34 strikeouts. She also went 3-3 with three RBIs in MC's 13-0 win over Tamalpais.

BASEBALL:

Nash Horton, St. Francis (Watsonville):

Horton threw a no-hitter in a 10-0 win against North Salinas, striking out nine in six innings. He also batted 3-4 with an RBI and a run.

Malcolm Moore, McClatchy:

Moore led the Lions to a dominant 3-0 week going 8-10 with four long balls, four doubles, and 10 RBIs.

Matt Campopiano, Northgate:

Campopiano went 8-9 with three walks to drive in five runs and score seven times, leading Northgate to a 3-0 week.

Cole Leschak, Pittsburg:

In a rout of Irvington, Leschak pitched seven scoreless innings with only three hits allowed and went 3-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, three runs scored, and a walk.

Brady Wetzel, California:

Wetzel led the Grizzlies to a 2-0 week by going 6-6 with two RBIs and scoring five times.

Carl Schmidt, Marin Catholic:

Schmidt went 6-10, including four extra-base hits, with five RBIs and five runs scored. He also threw five scoreless innings and got the win in one appearance for the 3-0 Wildcats.

Daniel Mazon, Pitman:

Mazon led the Pride to a 2-0 week going 5-7 with four RBIs.

Zane Denton, Las Plumas:

Denton helped lead the Thunderbirds to a two-game sweep of Oroville batting 3-6 with seven RBIs, hitting two homers including a grand slam.
