CIF high school baseball roundup: Opening Day filled with standout performances (2/10/2024)

High school baseball in the Southland is officially underway in the CIF Southern and City Section

Torrential downpour in the Southland didn't stop opening day in the CIF Southern and LA City Section for high school baseball Saturday.

The sunny, but cool, day played host to a number of outstanding performances to kick of the 2024 season.

Highly-touted Corona High, the No. 2 team in SBLive's national baseball rankings, beats Ayala 2-0 thanks to combine no-hitter from Ethan Schiefelbein, Jake Skelskey and Jayden Daya.

Schiefelbein threw two innings, Skelskey threw four, and Daya threw one. The two combined for three strikeouts.

Daniel Rivera provided the game's only RBI in the second inning before an Ayala error helped Schiefelbein score in the third inning.
