St. Bernard's wins rebound battle, captures first CIF State basketball title

SACRAMENTO - St. Bernard's (Eureka) took home their first CIF State basketball title on Saturday morning, beating Grossmont 47-29 in the Division 4 championship game.

The Crusaders and Foothillers were tied at eight after the opening quarter before St. Bernard's outscored Grossmont 15-4 in the second frame.

St. Bernard's was dominant on the boards, winning the rebound battle 58-30. The Crusaders were able to hold Grossmont to 11-62 shooting for the game. 

Madelyn Shanahan, Laila Florvilus, and Samantha Sundberg all had double-doubles for St. Bernard's, combining for 45 points and 42 rebounds.
