The 2023-24 Florida high school winter soccer season is underway and with it comes the SBLive Florida Soccer Player of the Week poll. A new poll will be available for casting ballots each Wednesday throughout the course of the season. There will be one mixed poll for both boys and girls. Voting will end on Sunday, December 10. The winner will be announced in each week’s new poll.

Check out these 10 candidates from our first poll of the season and vote as often as you like.

Allyssa Carroll, Lakeland Christian, Midfielder

The junior racked up six points, scoring the game’s lone goal in a 1-0 win against McKeel Academy and two goals in an 8-0 win against Mulberry. The defending girls 2A state champions are 8-1 on the season.

Clint Wyzard, Arnold, Forward

The sophomore scored four points with two goals in a 3-0 boys soccer win against Niceville.

Courtney Caruso, Plantation American Heritage, Midfielder

The junior scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win over the Boca Raton, the 7A state runners-up last year. American Heritage is 4-0 and won the 5A girls state championship this past season.

Cosme Salas, Gulliver Prep, Forward

The senior scored four points – one goal and two assists – in a 2-0 boys soccer win against Westminster Christian. Gulliver Prep is the defending 4A state champions.

Estefania Gonzales, Montverde Academy, Midfielder

The senior scored two goals against defending 4A state champions Bishop Moore in a 3-1 girls soccer win and then scored another goal in a 3-1 win against The First Academy the following night. Montverde is the defending 3A state champions.

Cason Shepard, Naples, Midfielder

The senior scored four points – one goal with two assists – in a 2-0 win against Immokalee and one goal in a 2-1 win against Lely. Naples was the 5A boys state runners-up this past season.

Amelia Jacobs, Gulf Breeze, Forward

The senior scored two goals and added three steals in a girls soccer 3-0 win over Fort Walton Beach and added another goal in a 5-1 win against Pace the following night. Gulf Breeze is the defending 6A state champions and 3-1-2 on the season.

Kahled Saavedra, Coral Park, Forward

The junior scored five points – two goals with one assist – in a 2-1 boys soccer win against Edison, seven points – three goals and one assist – in a 2-0 win against South Miami and five points – two goals with one assist – in an 8-0 win against Booker T. Washington.

Campbell Taylor, Sunlake, Midfielder, Forward

The senior scored four goals with one assist in a girls soccer 7-3 win against Academy of the Holy Names.

Asher Jones, Tampa Prep, Forward, Midfielder

The senior scored six points – three goals – in a 4-0 boys soccer win against Land O’ Lakes and four points – two goals – in a 3-0 win against Largo. Tampa Prep reached the 3A state semifinals this past season.
