Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week (12/11/2023)?

Central Florida boys basketball players are scoring big performances on the court this holiday season.

Several weeks into the 2023-24 season, area athletes are recording triple-doubles, double-doubles, double-figure scoring games, game-winning shots and more.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 26 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 4-9, 2023.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Max Simmons, Guard, The First Academy (Orlando): Crafty backcourt player scored 17 points to lead the Royals past West Orange (Winter Garden), 58-31, in the Hoops with a Heart tournament at Oviedo High.

Carmine Anroman, Guard, Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs): Junior dropped 14 points on Central Florida Christian Academy in a 63-44 win in the Hoops with a Heart tournament.

Josiah Shacklelford, Guard, Seminole (Sanford): Superb senior poured in 19 points to propel the Seminoles past The Master’s Academy, 67-63, in the Hoops with a Heart tournament.

Josh Pitts, Guard, The Master’s Academy (Oviedo): Talented junior scored 18 points to lead the Eagles in a loss to Seminole in the Hoops with a Heart tournament.

Cameron Codio, Point Guard, Bishop Moore Catholic (Orlando): Senior recorded 21 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead the Hornets past Seabreeze (Daytona Beach), 57-38, in the Hoops with a Heart tournament.

Alex Harper, Guard, Oviedo: Sharp-shooter pumped in 24 points, including 13 of 15 from the free-throw line, to lead the Lions past Apopka, 55-49, in the Hoops with a Heart tournament.

Kingston Baez, Guard, Cypress Creek (Orlando): Junior scored 15 points to lead the Bears past Bishop Kenny, 58-55, in overtime in the Orlando Health Hoopfest at Windermere Prep.

Zion Mitchell, Point Guard/Shooting Guard/Wing, Edgewater (Orlando): Senior continues to excel for the Eagles, pumping in 19 points in a 73-52 win against Impact Christian in the Orlando Health Hoopfest.

Chalier Torres, Guard, Windermere High: The 6-4 super senior dropped 27 points on Victory Christian (Lakeland) in a 92-88 overtime loss in the Orlando Health Hoopfest.

Brandon Bass, Guard, Windermere Prep: Sophomore turned in a huge game against The Villages Charter, recording 30 points and six rebounds in a 76-72 victory.

Javyeon Dale, Guard, Eustis: Senior scored 20 points in a close 55-51 loss to Sarasota High in the Orlando Health Hoopfest.

Derik Queen, Center/Forward, Montverde Academy: The 6-10 senior recorded 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the national powerhouse Eagles past Link Academy, 71-59, in the Nike EYBL Scholastic The Nike Event in Las Vegas.

Ameer Ramadan, Guard, Orlando Christian Prep: Senior pumped in 22 points, including 13 in overtime, in a wild 63-59 victory against Faith Family Academy (Texas) in the Battle in the Bluff High School Showcase in Memphis.

Tyler Johnson, Wing, Oak Ridge (Orlando): The 6-5 senior athlete turned in a strong performance against Ocoee, recording a triple double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in an 87-48 victory.

Narayan Thomas, Guard/Forward, Mainland (Daytona Beach): The 6-6 senior recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three assists and one blocked shot to lead the Bucs past Bishop Snyder (Jacksonville), 58-44.

David Pina, Small Forward/Power Forward, South Lake (Groveland): Talented junior had 16 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double to lead the Eagles past East Ridge (Clermont), 57-45.

Andre Ferguson, Small Forward/Power Forward/Wing, Vero Beach: Senior recorded 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks to lead the Indians past Heritage (Palm Bay), 69-67, in overtime.

Gary Anderson, Post, St. Edward’s (Vero Beach): The 6-5, 220-pound junior dropped 18 points on The Master’s Academy (Vero Beach) in a 76-42 victory.

Javi Rowell, Point Guard, Mount Dora Christian: Senior scored 19 points to lead the Bulldogs past Redeemer Christian, 81-29.

Deshawn Tolbert, Small Forward, Olympia (Orlando): The 6-3 senior recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds in a 69-56 win against Rockledge.

Jayden Lebron, Guard, Cornerstone Charter (Belle Isle): The 6-3 senior pumped in 26 points to propel the Ducks past Regency Christian, 90-39.

Jeremiah Berchal, Guard, Lake Mary: Senior scored 20 points to lead the Rams past Colonial (Orlando), 82-62.

Sylus Cory, Forward/Guard, Harmony: The 6-4 junior dropped 18 points on Gateway (Kissimmee) in a 60-46 victory.

Herly Brutus, Guard, Umatilla: Talented 6-6 sophomore notched a triple-double with 12 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs past East Ridge, 89-57.

Bryan Mwangovya, Utility, Lake Buena Vista: Senior poured in 20 points to lead the Vipers past Lyman (Longwood), 67-36.

Ray Wilson-Polydor, Point Guard/Shooting Guard, Titusville: Senior had 18 points, three rebounds, and three steals in a 58-47 win against Trinity Prep (Winter Park).
