Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week (12/11/2023)?

We’ve selected 17 candidates for your voting consideration

Central Florida girls basketball players are showing some big-time skills a month into the 2023-24 season.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 17 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 4-9, 2023.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. The poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

McKenna Murphy, Guard, Boone (Orlando): Senior poured in 25 points to lead the Braves past Wildwood, 60-51. She also scored 17 points in a 64-10 victory against Trinity Prep (Winter Park), and 16 points in a 43-29 win against Timber Creek (Orlando).

Evelyn Juden, Forward, Celebration: The 5-9 freshman scored 13 points to lead the Storm past Liberty (Kissimmee), 36-32.

Aranya Alexander, Guard, Mount Dora Christian: The freshman poured in 17 points to lead the Bulldogs past The Villages Charter, 55-47.

Avery Michels, Guard, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): The 5-11 freshman scored 15 points to lead the Lions past Deltona Trinity, 43-13.

Samantha Childs, Guard, Winter Park: The senior pumped in 19 points to lead the Wildcats past Oviedo, 47-41. She also had 18 points in a 53-42 victory against Liberty (Kissimmee).

Lilly Jacobus, Guard, Oviedo: Senior dropped 19 points in a 63-31 victory against Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs).

Taliah St. Hilaire, Forward, City of Life Christian (Kissimmee): Senior turned in a stellar performance with a triple-double with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals in a 42-33 win against Legacy Charter (Ocoee).

Aliyah Perry, Guard, Lake Minneola: The Lake County star senior scored 27 points and added four steals to lead the Hawks past South Lake (Groveland), 67-28. She also recorded 17 points, six steals and seven assists in a 79-34 win against Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs), and 17 points and 10 steals for a double-double in a 67-41 victory against East Ridge (Clermont).

Ava Pazos, Guard, Olympia (Orlando): Super sophomore recorded 20 points, six assists and six steals to lead the Titans past Lake Buena Vista, 75-45.

Senaia Asanya, Forward/Center, Wekiva (Apopka): The 6-foot sophomore scored 14 points and added nine rebounds and three assists in a 47-25 victory against crosstown rival Apopka.

Dakara Merthie, Guard, Lake Mary: Sophomore turned in a stellar performance in a 61-47 victory against Windermere Prep, recording 24 points and five steals.

Karyna Riviera, Guard, Gateway (Kissimmee): Senior pumped in 16 points to lead the Panthers past Mount Dora Christian, 53-44.

Herva Brutus, Forward, Umatilla: Super sophomore had 18 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double and added two assists, four steals and five blocks in a 41-37 win against DeLand.

Kylee Kitts, Forward, Hagerty: The 6-2 senior recorded 29 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double and added three assists and seven steals in an 85-18 victory against Osceola (Kissimmee).

Amaria McCrimon, Power Forward, Horizon (Winter Garden): Senior had 11 points, four rebounds and four steals in a 59-15 win against Windermere.

Lauren Bell, Center/Power Forward, Viera: The 6-3 senior turned in a solid effort in a 42-33 win against Vero Beach, recording 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Daphne Gibson, Forward, Sebastian River: The 6-0 senior had 12 points, six rebounds, one assist and three blocks in a 61-39 victory against Space Coast (Cocoa).
