Now that the fall season is over, SBLive is turning its attention to the winter sports.

This week we unveil our first Southwest Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week poll for the 2023-24 season. We will have a poll early each week, and voting will be open until Sunday. The winner will be announced in the following week's poll.

Here are the nominees for the first boys basketball poll of the year:

Erling Berg, Donahue Catholic: Averaged 16.3 points and 13 rebounds in four games last week.

Calven Charles, Palmetto Ridge: Averaged 14 points and 4 blocks in two wins to help the Bears improve to 5-0.

Spencer Clayton, Barron Collier: Put up 30 points, 8 rebounds, 17 assists and 7 steals in wins over Lely and Naples.

Judah Daley, Caple Coral: Totaled 36 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals to lead the Seahawks to back to back wins.

Javarius Jackson, Oasis: Led the Sharks by scoring 73 points in four games last week.

Isaiah Newson, North Fort Myers: Guided the Red Knights to three wins with 63 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 steals total.

Sean Peachey, Aubrey Rogers: In three games Peachey tallied 45 points, 18 rebounds and 12 steals.

Ashton Peterson, Estero: Dropped 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting in a 93-61 win over rival Bonita Springs.

Sam Powell, Golden Gate: Went for 28 points and six 3-pointers followed by 25 points and five 3s in back-to-back games.

Marquielle Tory, Fort Myers: Grabbed eight steals to go with 14 points in a win over Estero.
