The 2023-24 Florida high school wrestling season is underway and with it comes the SBLive Florida Wrestler of the Week poll. We were so excited about the start of this season we couldn't wait, so we put together our first poll on some of the preseason tournaments sprinkled across the month of November.

ScorebookLive.com will run the poll each Wednesday. There will be one mixed poll for both boys and girls. Voting will conclude on Sunday, December 17th at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s new poll.

Here are the nominees:

Makenzie Eltzroth, Hernando, 145 

The junior won the Walsh Women of Ironman 145-pound division, going 3-0 and beating Veronica Decaluwe from Harrison with a pin at 3:37 in the final. 

Gabby Tedesco, Lake Gibson, 105 

The senior finished fourth with a 3-2 record in the Walsh Women of Ironman 105-pound division. She finished with a 3-2 record. 

Ethan Rivera, Lake Highland Prep, 120 

The senior finished fifth in the 120-pound division at the Walsh Ironman with a 5-2 record. He defeated Louie Gill from Reynolds 3-0 in the fifth-place match.

Gianni Maldonado, Lake Gibson, 150 

The senior finished seventh in the 150-pound division at the Walsh Ironman with a 7-2 record. He defeated Mitch Younger of Bishop Patterson (M. For.).

Robert Kucharszk, Lake Highland Prep, 190 

The junior finished fifth in the 195-pound division at Walsh Ironman with a 5-2 record. He pinned Landon Jobber-Spence from Staunton River at 1:29. 

Michael Rocco, Cardinal Gibbons, 215 

The sophomore finished fourth in the 215-pound division at the Walsh Ironman posting a 5-2 record. 

Colt Selph, Lake Region, 144 

Having never wrestled before in any events, he went 5-0 and took first place at the Lake Region JV tournament.
