Central Florida boys basketball players showed out in the final week of 2023, giving fans a glimpse of what is to come in 2024.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 23 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 25-30, 2023.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunrday, Jan. 7, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.


Last week’s winner: SBLive congratulates Mainland (Daytona Beach) guard Kade Manley for winning Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 18-23, 2023.


Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. Here are this week's nominees:

Josiah Shackelford, Guard, Seminole (Sanford): Talented senior poured in 28 points to lead the surging Seminoles (11-2) past Mount Dora Christian, 78-65, in the championship game of the Mount Dora Christian Classic.

Xavier Dalton, Power Forward, Mount Dora Christian: The 6-4 senior scored 16 points in a loss to Seminole (Sanford).

Blake Kendrick, Guard, East Ridge (Clermont): Freshman recorded 14 points and two rebounds in a close 54-50 loss to Tohopekaliga (Kissimmee) in a consolation game of the Mount Dora Christian Academy Classic.

Kameren Wright, Guard, Olympia (Orlando): The 6-foot-6 senior pumped in 20 points to lead the Titans past Miami Norland, 65-61, in The Battle at the Villages at Villages Charter School. Earlier, he had 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 66-59 victory against FSU University High.

Malachi Martis, Wing/Small Forward/Guard, Windermere Prep: Talented 6-6 junior recorded 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocks to lead the Lakers past Gulfport (Miss.) in the Gulfport Holiday Classic.

Alex Harper, Guard, Oviedo: Ultra-talented 6-3 senior had 14 points in a 60-50 win against Belen Jesuit (Miami) in the championship game of the Jim Clark Classic at Bishop Moore.

Cameron Codio, Guard, Bishop Moore: Senior went wild in the third-place game of the Jim Clark Classic, recording 23 points, six rebounds and three assists in a 64-52 win against Cypress Creek (Orlando).

Danielito Rodriguez, Utility, Deland: Sophomore played big with 16 points in a 53-40 victory against University High (Orange City) in the Gus Gibbs Memorial Tournament at DHS.

RJ Ingram, Guard, Lake Highland Prep (Orlando): Super sophomore recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and added six assists in a 69-46 win against Mainland (Daytona Beach) in the Mainland Holiday Shootout. He also had 10 points in a 53-34 win against Deerfield Beach.

Nathan Kirk, Point Guard, Mainland (Daytona Beach): Shifty sophomore scored 21 points in a loss to Lake Highland Prep. He also had 12 points and five assists in a 53-26 romp against Wolfson.

Martay Barnes, Guard Holy Trinity Episcopal (Melbourne): Fantastic freshman poured in 19 points to lead the Tigers past Deerfield Beach, 63-42, in the Mainland Holiday Shootout.

Chalier Torres, Guard, Windermere: The 6-4 senior dropped 22 points in a 75-61 victory against Shabach Christian Academy (Md.) in the Sun Bash Invitational in St. Petersburg.

Cameron Basden, Small Forward/Shooting Guard, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden): The senior posted a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lions past Lake Worth Christian, 79-70, in the Defender Christmas Classic at Lake Worth Christian.

Jamier Jones, Guard, Oak Ridge (Orlando): The talented 6-6 junior pumped in 24 points, including the buzzer-beater, to lead the powerful Pioneers past Mount Vernon (Ga.), 60-58, in the Tournament of Champions semifinals at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Ga.

Herly Brutus, Guard, Umatilla: Super 6-6 sophomore recorded a double with 26 points and 10 rebounds and added seven assists to lead the Bulldogs past Jefferson, 70-63, in the Keswick Classic.

Omar Vincent, Power Forward, Cornerstone Charter Academy (Belle Isle): The senior went wild in the Lakeland Christmas Tournament championship game, recording a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 63-48 victory against Wildwood.

Kason Beezer, Guard, Cypress Creek (Orlando): Super sophomore recorded 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and five assists, four steals, and two rebounds to lead the Bears past Horizon (Winter Garden), 61-59. He also had 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in a loss to Oviedo.

Adonys Christo, Guard, Horizon (Winter Garden): The senior scored 23 points in a loss to Cypress Creek.

Khori Polarchy, Guard, Legacy Charter (Ocoee): Sophomore had 10 points, two rebounds, and three steals in a 44-42 win against Boone (Orlando) in the Barracuda Classic at New Smyrna Beach High.

Cheo James, Guard, Boone (Orlando): The 6-3 senior erupted for 32 points, including four 3-pointers, and 10 rebounds for a double-double, and added two steals in a 55-34 win against Fleming Island in the Barracuda Classic.

Will Holderman, Guard, Vero Beach: Senior recorded 18 points, two rebounds and two assists to lead the Indians past Lincoln Park Academy (Fort Pierce), 68-40.

Keenan Matthews, Forward, Sebastian River: The 6-4 senior notched 18 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots to lead the Sharks past Oxbridge Academy (West Palm Beach), 45-32.

Jeremias Berchal, Point Guard, Lake Mary: Recorded 22 points, six rebounds and four steals vs Astronaut (Titusville).
