Who among Southwest Florida's girls basketball players closed out 2023 with the top performance? We're taking a look at the final games of the calendar year to decide who should be SBLive's Southwest Florida Girls Basketball Player of the Week.

Here are the nominees:

Melody Charlton, Palmetto Ridge: Hit 8 of 16 shots to score 21 points in a win that gave the Bears a 6-4 record.

Samarrah Desir, Island Coast: Put up a season-high 23 points as the Gators beat Bonita Springs to end their losing streak.

Kaleah Estrada, Lely: Had a well-rounded game with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists in a win over Lehigh.

Aariah Johnson, LaBelle: Averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds per game during LaBelle's current five-game winning streak.

Sophia McCartney, St. John Neumann: Had 18 points and 17 rebounds, followed by 20 points and 21 rebounds in back-to-back games.

Zaira Mitchell, Evangelical Christian: Went for 17 points and 14 rebounds to help ECS win in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational.

Cameron O'Halloran, Bishop Verot: Scored a game-high 20 points in a big victory over St. Petersburg.

Kiara Rakes, Gulf Coast: Drilled four 3-pointers to lead the Sharks with 12 points in a win against Winter Springs

Jazmyne Trubina, Lehigh: Led the Lightning with 9 points and 4 steals as they won to improve to 8-2.
