Vote: Who should be SBLive’s Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week (2/12/2024)?

Central Florida high school boys’ basketball players stepped up their game last week as the 2023-24 playoffs got underway.

We looked at teams from Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River counties and nominated 20 athletes for the SBLive Central Florida Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 5-10, 2024.

We ask you, the fan, to decide who should the top player selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 11:59pm and will be announced in next week’s poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. The poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Jamier Jones, Guard, Oak Ridge (Orlando): The five-star junior prospect poured in 22 points and added the game-winning assist with 22 seconds left to lift the national power Pioneers (23-3) to a nail-biting 74-73 victory against Windermere and win the Class 7A, District 5 championship.

Chalier Torres, Guard, Windermere: The 6-foot-4 senior scored 22 points in a loss to Oak Ridge in the Class 7A-5 title game.

Matthew Carpione, Guard, Lake Mary: Senior drained the game-winning 3-pointer with 2 seconds left to shock Seminole (Sanford), 48-46, in the Class 7A, District 2 championship game.

Josiah Shackelford, Shooting Guard, Seminole (Sanford): The 6-4 senior scored 20 points against Lake Mary in the Class 7A-2 title game. Earlier, he dropped 25 points on DeLand in a 72-49 victory, handing coach Sylvester Wynn his 500thcareer coaching victory.

Tre DuBois, Shooting Guard, Evans (Orlando): Junior exploded for 32 points in a 65-53 Class 7A-3 semifinal victory against Apopka.

Hudson Mauer, Guard, University High (Orlando): The 6-4 junior combo guard dropped 15 points on Winter Park to lift the Cougars to a 37-32 victory and the Class 7A, District 4 championship.

Nathan Kirk, Point Guard, Mainland (Daytona Beach): Talented sophomore scored 18 points to lead the Bucs past St. Augustine, 43-39, for the Class 5A, District 4 title.

Julian Clarke, Point Guard, Lake Highland Prep: The 6-1 senior pumped in 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Highlanders past Discovery, 66-54, and to the Class 4A, District 7 championship.

Samuel Shoptaw, Point Guard, Windermere Prep: Junior recorded 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead the Lakers past The First Academy (Orlando), 62-51, for the Class 3A, District 6 championship.

Brandon Bass Jr., Shooting Guard, Windermere Prep: Star sophomore erupted for 25 points to lead the Lakers past Trinity Prep (Winter Park), 75-41, in a district tournament game.

Javi Rowell, Point Guard, Mount Dora Christian: Senior poured in 22 points to lead the Bulldogs past Halifax Academy (Daytona Beach), 65-59, for the Class 2A, District 6 title. Earlier, he scored 12 points in a 71-42 win against Deltona Trinity.

Robert Wright, Point Guard, Montverde Academy: Talented 6-1 senior from Wilmington, Del., scored 19 points to lead the unbeaten national power Eagles (26-0) past Bartlett High, 80-55.

Josh Pitts, Guard, The Master’s Academy (Oviedo): Junior recorded 18 points and six rebounds to lead the Eagles past Father Lopez (Daytona Beach), 54-36, and win the Class 3A, District 4 championship.

Ameer Ramadan, Point Guard, Orlando Christian Prep: Spectacular senior pumped in 16 points to lead the state power Warriors (21-4) past Faith Christian (Orlando), 80-37, and win the Class 2A, District 7 title.

Jahi Bowden, Wing, Apopka: The 6-1 junior pumped in 18 points in a 69-42 victory Class 7A-3 victory against Freedom (Orlando).

London Hatch, Forward, Dr. Phillips (Orlando): The talented 6-4 sophomore erupted for 20 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double in a 75-67 Class 7A-5 victory against West Orange (Winter Garden).

Luke McCrimon, Shooting Guard/Small Forward, Osceola (Kissimmee): Star sophomore exploded for 20 points to lead the Kowboys past Celebration, 80-24, in a Class 7A, District 6 game. He also had 20 points in a 58-54 win against Poinciana (Kissimmee).

Vlad Torrado, Guard, Harmony: Senior scored 15 points to lead the Longhorns past Lake Nona (Orlando), 55-52, in a 7A-6 game.

Martay Barnes, Guard, Holy Trinity Episcopal (Melbourne): Fantastic freshman scored 21 points to lead the Tigers past Cocoa Beach, 80-43, and win the Class 3A, District 5 title.

Trey Nevad, Utility, Merritt Island Christian: Junior exploded for 23 points and 23 rebounds for a double-double and added three steals to lead the Cougars past St. Edward’s (Vero Beach), 72-70, in double overtime.
