The spring athletic season is under way. With that comes your chance to pick an SBLive Player of the Week in a new sport.

Here is the first Southwest Florida Softball Player of the Week poll of the season. Each Monday a new poll will be posted on SBLive, and you'll get to help decide the winner by voting.

Voting is open through Sunday, March 10, at 11:59 p.m., and the winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Alexis Alvarez, Aubrey Rogers: Had six RBIs and scored five runs in back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Emory Anderson, LaBelle: Went 4-for-6 from the plate with three runs and five RBIs in two wins last week.

Sheila Forbes, Barron Collier: Smacked five hits, including two triples, to go with four RBIs and four runs in a 23-22 nine-inning win over Palmetto Ridge.

Dava Hoffer, Charlotte: Has 20 strikeouts and a 1.68 ERA in 16.2 innings so far this season.

Lilly Lloyd, Palmetto Ridge: Scored three runs and had four hits plus three RBIs in a 23-22 loss to Barron Collier in nine innings.

Sage Rodmyre, Fort Myers: Went 8-for-11 batting (.727 average) with a 1.454 slugging percentage in three straight wins.

Avery Sanchez, Estero: Combined for four runs, five hits and six RBI to lead the Wildcats to back-to-back wins.

Mia Standard, Mariner: Piled up four hits, four RBIs and five runs scored as the Tritons won three times in three days last week.

Kaliyah Williams, North Fort Myers: Struck out 24 batters in 18.1 innings with a 0.76 ERA for the undefeated Knights.

Zoe Yzaguirre, Evangelical Christian: Rang up 17 strikeouts and allowed just two hits in seven innings for the 3-0 Sentinels.
