Vote: Who is the South Suncoast Girls Flag Football Player of the Week (3/11/2024)?

We have eight candidates for you to choose from

The Florida High School Girls Flag Football season is in full swing and we begin our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams have started off the regular season with some great individual performances.

As such, we have eight athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s South Suncoast high school girls flag football player of the week award from March 4-March 9, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 17th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominees:

Ashley Edgemon, Sebring: The senior passer completed 11-20 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns in a 19-6 win over Avon Park last week.

Yarelly Hernandez-Mendoza, Sebring: It wasn't just the Blue Streaks' offense making it happen. Hernandez-Mendoza tallied three sacks in the team's victory over Avon Park.

Jayna Bowen, Parrish Community: The freshman wide receiver caught five passes for 50 yards and a touchdown in a 26-0 win over Countryside.

Piper Hammett, Parrish Community: No player had the kind of defensive night Hammett had last week against Countryside, with the junior notching five sacks.

Cydnee Brooks, Braden River: The Pirates’ quarterback completed 20-of-22 passes for 203 yards and six touchdowns in a 61-0 rout of Manatee.

Aryanna Spainhower, Braden River: The senior defensive back had a strong game against the Hurricanes as Spainhower finished the evening with three interceptions.

Victoria Fernandez, Lakewood Ranch: The Mustangs' quarterback completed 16-of-23 passes for 217 yards and five touchdowns in a 34-12 win over Boca Ciega.

Ava Horne, Lakewood Ranch: The senior wide receiver was on the other end of several of Fernandez's throws. Horne caught five passes for 70 yards and two scores.
