Overall record: 10-2 (4-0, first place in the Del Rio League). The Lancers lost to St. Paul 34-30 in the Division 5 quarterfinals.

THREE TO SEE
Joey Bustos – MLB/FB
Bustos often looked like a man amongst boys last season, in which he registered 104 tackles, including seven sacks. He also got at least one touch every game at fullback, and will likely see more minutes this season offensively.
Andrew Henriquez – QB
The Lancers are yet another top D-6 program returning a strong pro-style starting quarterback. Henriquez’s efficiency last season was exceptional. He completed more than 63-percent of his passes for 1,981 yards, 26 touchdowns and only six interceptions. That was good for an enormous QB rating of 123.
Milo Lopez – FS/SS
At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Milo Lopez has the speed to play free safety and the size to play strong safety. Last season he made 68 tackles, 36 of which were unassisted. This season he will not only anchor the secondary but might play some wide receiver as well.
OUTLOOK
La Serna will drop down to Division 6 this season despite nearly making the D-5 semifinals last year. Outside of star quarterback Andrew Henriquez, they will have a new core of playmakers. Despite some turnover, their defense should be quite strong and should buy them time to settle in offensively.
The Lancers are a safe bet to make the playoffs, and will likely have a chance to win some games if they get there. Whether or not they can go on a run will likely come down to the development of their skill position players.
