CARSON -- Representatives from the Xtreme Football League's Los Angeles Wildcats franchise attended Carson High's football practice Wednesday afternoon.

Offensive coordinator Norm Chow and wide receivers coach Mike Wilson addressed the Carson team after practice. Wilson graduated from Carson in 1977 before going on to play football at Washington State and then in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. He won four Super Bowls.

The former Colt told the current Carson team that he liked what he saw from them in their loss to Edison last week. Wilson went on to discuss how one year his 49ers team started 3-6 before going on to win the Super Bowl. Carson is 0-2, but still in the hunt for an Open Division spot in the City Section playoffs.

The XFL season begins in February and the Wildcats will play at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson. The XFL expansion draft will take place in the next few weeks.

"With this team, there's a connection to the Carson community," Wilson told a group of reporters on Wednesday.
