Every Monday during the football season, Scorebook Live California reporter Bodie De Silva highlights the top performers and the most intriguing storylines in San Diego Section high school football.

NOTABLE RESULTS

Bishop’s defeated Mater Dei Catholic, 71-42. The Knight’s scored touchdowns on each of their first 10 possessions. Bishop’s finished with 821 yards of offense, breaking the previous CIF-San Diego record of 817 that was just set last week by Grossmont.

For the second straight week the Cathedral Catholic Dons were victorious on the national level. This time they took down Corona Centennial who entered the week ranked No. 3 in California.

San Marcos and Oceanside kicked off Avocado League play and provided lots of entertainment in a high scoring battle. The Knights scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as Oceanside prevailed on the road, 43-35.

La Costa Canyon hosted San Clemente, who had previously defeated Oceanside by 22 and Torrey Pines by 24 in their first two games. The Mavericks gave them a battle before going down 13-12. The Tritons will finish up the San Diego portion of their schedule next week when they host Lincoln, the fifth-ranked team in the latest San Diego Section poll.
