Southern California Top 25 football rankings: San Clemente moves up, Serra Gardena drops
Here are Scorebook Live’s Top 25 Southern California high school football rankings for the week of Oct. 7. Our rankings encompass the Southern Section, LA City Section and San Diego Section. 1. Mater Dei (6-0) vs. Servite
MD beat Orange Lutheran 51-14 Friday and now face a pesky Servite team.
2. St. John Bosco (6-0) at JSerra
The Braves survived to win against #14 Servite 27-26 Friday.
3. Mission Viejo (7-0) at Capistrano Valley
Mission Viejo continues its quest for an undefeated season Friday on the road against Capo Valley.
4. Helix (5-1) vs. Valhalla
Helix rolled to a 65-14 win over El Capitan Friday.
5. Cathedral Catholic (6-1) at Madison
The Dons beat Point Loma 50-14 Friday.
6. Corona Centennial (4-2) vs. Corona (Thursday)
Cen10 continued to dominate Big VIII League play beating Santiago 63-0.
7. JSerra (5-1) vs. St. John Bosco
JSerra had an easy time against Santa Margarita winning 35-3. This week will be tougher.
8. Grace Brethren (6-0) at Moorpark
Grace looks to stay undefeated Friday.
9. Narbonne (6-1) BYE
Narbonne hits the bye week following a big Marine League win over San Pedro 53-0.
10. St. Augustine (5-1) at Lincoln
The Saints play a good Lincoln team this week.
11. Corona del Mar (6-0) vs. Edison
CDM faces a tough test against Edison this week.
12. Servite (4-2) at Mater Dei
Can Servite pull off the upset this week after coming so close last week?
13. Bishop Amat (5-1) vs. Chaminade
Amat beat No. 19 Alemany 25-24 on Friday to take early control of the Mission League.
14. Calabasas (5-2) BYE
The Coyotes hit the bye after beating Westlake 54-35.
15. Sierra Canyon (6-1) BYE
Sierra Canyon is off this week after beating Crespi 51-0.
16. La Habra (4-2) at Fullerton
Another week, another easy Freeway League matchup for La Habra.
17. Upland (4-2) vs. Los Osos
Upland began Baseline League beating Damien 21-3.
18. San Clemente (6-1) at El Toro
San Clemente returns to the top 20 after beating Tesoro 44-28.
19. Alemany (5-1) at Loyola
Alemany lost a heart-breaker to Bishop Amat 25-24 following Damien Moore's successful two-point conversion.
20. Rancho Verde (5-1) vs. Elsinore
Rancho Verde beat Temescal Canyon 54-0 Friday and should win big again this week.
21. Orange Lutheran (3-3) vs. Santa Margarita (Thursday)
Orange Lutheran will be favorites this week.
22. Serra Gardena (4-2) at Notre Dame
Serra lost to Loyola 24-7 last week without quarterbacks Doug Brumfield and Maalik Murphy.
23. Notre Dame (4-1) vs. Serra
An injury-riddled Notre Dame team lost to Chaminade 35-14 Friday.
24. Norco (5-1) at Santiago
Norco had a big win 56-6 win over King Friday.
25. Carlsbad (5-1) vs. Oceanside
Carlsbad cemented their place as a top five San Diego team in a 42-7 win over Torrey Pines Friday.
