Under Armour All-America football game cancels 2021 showcase due to COVID-19
The Under Armour All-America High School Football Game, an annual showcase featuring some of the top senior football recruits across the country, announced Friday morning it is canceling its 2021 game due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“While we are disappointed for this year’s class that will miss the physical experience of being in Orlando and participating in the Game,” the statement read, “plans are in the works to celebrate these incredible athletes and honor them for their achievements as they prepare for the next steps of their football careers.”
The game was scheduled to take place on Jan. 2 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. and feature some of the top recruits in California playing in front of a national audience on ESPN.
The decision came weeks after the Under Armour-sponsored game’s rival bowl game — The All-American Bowl — canceled its 2021 game, which was scheduled for Jan. 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas and set to be televised on NBC Sports.
