Here are Scorebook Live's Top 25 California high school football rankings for the week of Aug. 26. Our statewide rankings are released every Monday throughout the 2019 high school football season.

Last week's rankings: Preseason Top 25

This week's rankings (week of Aug. 26):

1. Mater Dei (1-0) - home vs. Villa Park Thursday

We had the Monarchs at No. 2 in our preseason rankings, but their 42-12 season-opening win against Corona Centennial was so impressive that they're up to No. 1 this week.

2. St. John Bosco (1-0) - home vs. Don Bosco Prep Friday

The Braves beat DeMatha 35-7, but they were not sharp on offense. "We struggled offensively just getting lined up sometimes," said head coach John Negro. "False starts, holding calls, penalties, errant throws, drops. There are a litany of things we made a mistake on, on the offensive side.”

3. JSerra (1-0) - neutral vs. St. Joseph Regional Saturday

JSerra went all the way to Utah last week to knock off East, 24-14. This Saturday, they'll take on arguably the best team in New Jersey in a neutral setting at Cathedral (San Diego).

4. De La Salle (0-1) - @ Central Catholic Friday

The Spartans lost 24-14 at home to St. Thomas Aquinas, who is ranked No. 1 in the country by USA Today. De La Salle will travel to Central Catholic (Modesto) this Friday.

5. Corona Centennial (0-1) - home vs. Orange Lutheran Friday

The Huskies only drop two spots after they were blown out by Mater Dei last week. They'll have an opportunity to bounce back against another Trinity League team, Orange Lutheran, on Friday.

6. Folsom (0-0) - @ Jesuit Friday

Fresh off of a Division 1-AA state championship in 2018, the Bulldogs kick off their 2019 season on Friday.

7. Narbonne (1-0) - neutral vs. Lone Peak Saturday

Narbonne moves up from No. 10 after soundly beating a very good Buchanan team, 32-7. They'll see a test on Saturday against Utah powerhouse Lone Peak.

8. Mission Viejo (1-0) - neutral vs. Santa Margarita Friday

The Diablos' bi-yearly trip was a success this year in Hawaii, as they defeated Konawaena 38-14. Their matchup against Santa Margarita on Friday in Trabuco Hills will be a game to watch.

9. Calabasas (1-0) - @ Rancho Cucamonga Thursday

Their 29-14 victory over Bakersfield on Friday could've been more convincing, but Calabasas is formidable. They'll face another elite public school in Rancho Cucamonga this week.

10. Liberty (Brentwood) (1-0) - @ Oakdale Friday

Liberty, the defending Division 1-A state champs, beat Vacaville 49-24 last week. QB Jay Butterfield, an Oregon commit, threw for 306 yards and 2 TDs.

11. Sierra Canyon (1-0) - neutral vs. Lawndale Friday

Last Friday, the Trailblazers rolled past an excellent Westlake team, 26-7. They have more tough competition coming right up with state champion Lawndale on Friday and then Oaks Christian.

12. Cathedral Catholic (1-0) - home vs. Saguaro (Arizona)

The Dons move up a spot after having their way with La Costa Canyon in a 42-9 season-opening win. They will host Saguaro (Arizona) Saturday in the Honor Bowl.

13. Norco (1-0) - bye-week

The Cougars endured Williams Field and the grueling Arizona heat to win 52-27 last week on the road. After a bye week, they have a compelling matchup against Rancho Cucamonga on Sept. 6.

14. Corona del Mar (1-0) - @ Saint Francis Friday

CDM dropped 57 points on Downey last week to start the season, winning by 37. The Sea Kings will be up in the Bay Area on Friday playing against Saint Francis in Mountain View.

15. Grace Brethren (1-0) - @ Oaks Christian Friday

The Lancers opened the season with a nice 42-18 victory over Aquinas. This week, they will be really tested on the road by Oaks Christian.

16. Oaks Christian (1-0) - home vs. Grace Brethren Friday

The Lions were No. 9 in our preseason rankings, but they drop after struggling to put away Chaminade last week, 13-7. We'll learn a lot about Oaks Christian after Friday's matchup against Grace Brethren.

17. Central (Fresno) (1-0) - @ Grant Union Friday

The Grizzlies cruised to a 47-12 win over Edison in their season opener. Central's QB Jameson Silva, a transfer from Edison, threw three TD passes against his former squad.

18. Buchanan (Clovis) (0-1) - home vs. Bullard Friday

Running back Kendall Milton, a Georgia commit, had 133 yards and a TD, but it wasn't enough as the Bears fell to then-No. 10 Narbonne 32-7 in their season opener. Buchanan should rebound this week vs. Bullard.

19. Servite (0-0) - @ JW North Friday

The Friars only have one game to prepare for Bishop Gorman, and that's this week against JW North.

20. St. Augustine (1-0) - @ Eastlake Friday

The San Diego power moves up one spot after rolling to a 37-7 win over Bonita Vista last week.

21. Orange Lutheran (1-0) - @ Corona Centennial Friday

OLu narrowly defeated San Juan Hills 27-21 last week. Now they get an angry Corona Centennial team.

22. Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) (0-0) - neutral vs. Desert Vista Saturday

QB Cooper Meek leads Notre Dame into its season opener against Desert Vista in the Honor Bowl.

23. Lawndale (0-0) - neutral vs. Sierra Canyon Friday

The reigning state 2-A champs open the season on Friday against No. 11 Sierra Canyon.

25. La Habra (1-0) - home vs. Redlands East Valley Friday

La Habra justified their preseason ranking by stunning No. 19 Upland 21-14 behind the play of Ohio State commit Clark Phillips (two interceptions). Watch the highlights:

25. Rancho Cucamonga (1-0) - home vs. Calabasas Thursday

Rancho Cucamonga moves into the Top 25 after beating Roosevelt 50-31 last week. The next two weeks will be brutal as they face Calabasas and Norco.

Moved out: Upland

Moved in: Rancho Cucamonga
