SB Live California Top 25: Mater Dei, St. John Bosco still on top in latest statewide high school football rankings
Here are Scorebook Live’s Top 25 California high school football rankings for the week of September 23. Our statewide rankings are released every Monday throughout the 2019 high school football season. The rankings are compiled by Scorebook Live California reporters Connor Morrissette, Bodie DeSilva and Lance Smith.

1. Mater Dei (4-0) at St. John's (Washington DC), 5:30 p.m. Friday
The Monarchs head to our nation's capital following their bye week. Quarterback Bryce Young committed to Alabama over the weekend.
2. St. John Bosco (5-0) bye week
After picking up a 42-10 win in Hawaii against Mililani, the Braves are off this week before Trinity League play begins.
3. De La Salle (4-1) at St. Mary's, 7:15 p.m. Friday
The Spartans turned in a dominant defensive effort in Friday's 35-0 win over Buchanan.
4. Mission Viejo (5-0) vs. Upland, 7 p.m. Friday
Chad Johnson's team dominated Stockton St. Mary's last Friday 63-7. The Diablos host Upland on Friday in one of the games of the week.
5. Helix (3-1) vs. Oaks Christian, 7 p.m. Friday
Helix is the top team in San Diego for now after recording wins over Cathedral Catholic and St. Augustine.
6. Cathedral Catholic (4-1) vs. Otay Ranch, 7 p.m. Friday
The Dons' only slip up came against Helix two weeks ago. They'll seek revenge come playoff time.
7. Corona Centennial (3-2) bye week
Corona Centennial is off this week. The Huskies annihilated Long Beach Poly 57-13 last week.
8. JSerra (4-1) bye week
The Lions begin Trinity League play in two weeks at home against Santa Margarita.
9. Grace Brethren (4-0) vs. Westlake, 7 p.m. Friday
Coming off of a bye, Grace hosts Westlake on Friday.
10. Narbonne (4-1) at Lawndale, 7 p.m. Friday
11. Folsom (3-1) vs. Menlo-Atherton, 7 p.m. Friday
The two best teams in the Sac-Joaquin Section put on a show Friday night, with the Bulldogs rallying for a 36-33 win over Oak Ridge.
12. St. Augustine (4-1) bye week
The Saints are on the bye following their loss to Helix.
13. Norco (4-0) vs. Rancho Verde, 7 p.m. Friday
Norco looks to continue its perfect start to the season this week against Rancho Verde.
14. Serra Gardena (3-1) at Cathedral, 7 p.m. Friday
Serra drops just one spot after losing to Narbonne 28-21.
15. Servite (3-1) at Notre Dame Sherman Oaks, 7 p.m. Friday
In another game of the week contender, Servite travels to Notre Dame Friday.
16. Corona del Mar (4-0) vs. San Clemente, 7 p.m. Thursday
CDM's battle with San Clemente will be one of the top games of the week.
17. Calabasas (3-2) vs. Valencia, 7 p.m. Friday
The Coyotes look to back on track this week following their 31-20 loss to Calabasas.
18. Sierra Canyon (4-0) vs. Bakersfield, 7 p.m. Friday
The Trailblazers will try to stay undefeated against an out-of-section opponent.
19. Central (Fresno) (5-0) bye week
QB Jameson Silva and the Grizzlies get a week off to prepare for Buchanan.
20. Notre Dame Sherman Oaks (4-0) vs. Servite, 7 p.m. Friday
The Knights face a stiff test against Servite Friday.
21. La Habra (3-2) bye week
La Habra gets a week off before league play begins.
22. Upland (3-1) at Mission Viejo, 7 p.m. Friday
Upland has had two weeks to prepare for Friday's test.
23. Alemany (5-0) bye week
Casey Clausen's team has the week off before beginning Mission League play.
24. Liberty (Brentwood) (5-0) at Freedom, 7 p.m. Friday
Liberty survived another scare, holding off Cardinal Newman 17-13 on Saturday.
25. Serra (San Mateo) (3-0) at Archbishop Riordan, 7 p.m. Friday
Serra moves into the Top 25 after averaging more than 50 points through its first three games.
