The 2023 high school football playoffs are underway in Georgia as the drives for state championships are underway.

Now it’s time to voice your opinion on which player should be named SBLive’s South Georgia high school football defensive player of the week.

Here are this week's nominees:

Sylvester Harris, Jenkins: Senior linebacker Sylvester Jenkins was the hero of last Friday night’s first-round upset of Arabia Mountain after he returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown to put the Warriors out in front 14-13.

Chris Reed, Coffee: Junior Chris Reed did it all for the Trojans last Friday night in a 56-0 shutout of Chamblee. He led the way with nine tackles, recorded a sack and intercepted a pass in their first-round playoff win.

Temirez Williams, Lee County: Trojans senior Temirez Williams led them in tackles with seven and recorded two tackles for a loss in a 51-14 win over Dunwoody in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs last Friday night.

Devin Smith, Brunswick: Pirates linebacker Devin Smith led the way with eight tackles and a sack in a 28-22 win over Mundy’s Mill in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs last Friday night.

Kenneth Hogges, New Hampstead: Sophomore Kenneth Hogges turned in a nice performance against Westside last Saturday in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs, recording a team-best seven tackles and a sack in a 40-12 win.
