Jackson defeats Midtown for GHSL girls basketball AAAAA state championship

Shakir Gresham leads the Cougars with 21 points

MACON, GEORGIA – The Jackson Jaguars started a little slow Thursday evening in the GHSAA AAAAA girls basketball state championship game, at the Macon Centerplex, but they got it in gear in the second quarter on their way to a 58-44 win over Midtown.

The Jaguars outscored Midtown 18-10 in the second quarter to turn a 4-point deficit into 28-22 lead.

Shakir Gresham went 9-of-16 from the field and scored 21 points to lead Jackson. She also led the team with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Jackson was especially tough on the defensive end, coming up with 15 steals.

Aaliyah added 13 points and Taliah Cornish netted 11 points for the Jaguars.

Midtown's Devin Bockman scored a game-high 23 points. She added 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Hailey Wortman added 11 points for the Knights to go with 6 rebounds.
