Lincoln-Way East will square off against No. 23 ranked Neuqua Valley in the second round of the 8A playoffs next week.

5. Wheaton North (9-1) defeated Willowbrook 35-14

Wheaton North got off to a hot start and took a 21-0 lead into the half while allowing just 8 total yards of offense. 6. Lemont (10-0) defeated Blue Island Eisenhower 55-14

Lemont will take on Quincy next week in the 6A playoffs.

7. Sacred Heart-Griffin (10-0) defeated Hall/Putnam County 55-6

Sacred Heart-Griffin scored on just five plays to open the scoring and tacked on another touchdown on the first play of its second drive. Hall/Putnam County didn’t prove to be much of a test all night.

8. Simeon (10-0) defeated Oak Forest 45-8

The IHSA 6A State Playoffs got off to a bang for Simeon with a 4-yard touchdown run by Andre Crews. Oak Forest responded right back and took an 8-7 lead, but it was all Simeon from that point on. Crews had four touchdowns in the offensive explosion.

9. York (10-0) defeated Oswego East 31-10

Oswego East couldn’t hand York its first loss of the season. York opened up a 14-3 first quarter lead before pushing it to 21-3 at the break. The Dukes move on to Round 2 where they will look to stay unbeaten.

10. Glenbard West (9-1) defeated Lockport 38-7

A rematch with Edwardsville will be one of the top games to watch in Illinois this weekend.

15. Prairie Ridge (9-1) defeated Crystal Lake South 63-55

It was expected that this would be a high-scoring rematch after Prairie Ridge won their first bout with Crystal Lake South by a score of 48-41, but after the first quarter the score was tied at 7. Both offenses found their stride in the second quarter as Prairie Ridge led 35-28 by halftime. The Tigers will seek revenge on O’Fallon after blowing a 13-point fourth quarter lead earlier this year.

18. Chicago Marist (7-3) defeated Naperville North 42-28

19. St. Rita (8-2) defeated Geneva 27-14

St. Rita’s defense set the tone early as the Mustangs had a pick-six and a fumble to go along with a blocked field goal on special teams all in the Mustangs’ first three defensive possessions. St. Rita opened up a 24-0 lead in the second quarter and that was enough to hold off Geneva.

20. Crete-Monee (8-2) defeated Centennial 53-13

Crete-Monee came out firing on both sides of the ball on Saturday. Lynel Billups-Williams caught three first-half touchdown passes and the defense forced a turnover that led to a score two plays later as the Warriors took a 33-6 into the half. 23. Neuqua Valley (8-2) defeated Lane Tech 37-0

The Wildcat defense was tough all night as they pitched a shutout and held Lane Tech to just 34 yards of offense and contributed a touchdown. The Wildcats will have tough competition in round 2 of the 8A playoffs with a matchup against 4th ranked Lincoln-Way East.

24. Andrew (7-3) defeated Huntley 28-18

Quarterback Andrew Skarzynski had a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown while running back Mike Barberi had two rushing scores to help Andrew to a 28-18 win over Huntley. 25. Bolingbrook (6-4) lost to No. 16 Maine South 24-0
