Here are the candidates for SBLive's Illinois High School Athlete of the Week as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff.

John Conners, Lincoln-Way East baseball

The senior infielder had a big week, going 3-for-7 with three home runs, eight RBIs, four walks, and four runs scored in three games while helping the Griffins to a 2-1 record.

Joey Garlin, Huntley baseball

Garlin led Huntley’s offense during their 6-5 win over Burlington Central on Thursday. The senior was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

John Hughes, Nazareth Academy baseball

Hughes had a great performance on the mound for the Roadrunners on Tuesday. The junior North Carolina commit earned the win by throwing three perfect innings and striking out five St. Patrick hitters as Nazareth won 7-0.

Leo Izquierdo, St. Viator lacrosse

A Marquette commit, Izqquierdo led an impressive St. Viator offensive attack as they took down Loyola, the defending state champions, 15-6. The senior scored five goals and helped the Lions secure the statement win.

Allistair Kanyuh, St. Viator baseball

Kanyuh was hard to hit as he earned the win on the mound against Carmel on Wednesday. The sophomore hurler put together six shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out seven Corsairs.

Melissa Ketter, Grant girls track and field

Despite the cold weather and rain, Ketter put together a standout performance at the Palatine Invitational on Saturday. The senior won the 300 hurdles and the high jump and finished second in the 100 hurdles.

Tyler Kocsinski, Lincoln-Way West baseball

Lincoln-Way West was able to take down Bradley-Bourbonnais 9-3 on Thursday thanks in large part to Kocsinski’s performance at the plate. The senior Aurora University commit had a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Sage Mardjetko, Lemont softball

Mardjetko had a dominant performance on the mound against Shepard on Thursday. The South Carolina-bound pitcher struck out 20 – including the first 12 batters she faced – and also had an RBI single to lead the way for a 10-1 Lemont win.

AJ McEneany, Neuqua Valley baseball

A senior pitcher, McEneany recorded a quality start on the mound against Naperville Central on Saturday. The right hander went 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs and Neuqua was able to complete the sweep in extra innings by a score of 3-2.

Tyler Michelini, Lake Park boys track and field

Michelini had an impressive showing at the Red Grange Invitational at Wheaton Warrenville South on Friday. The senior thrower was a double winner in both the shot put and the discus as Lake Park took third place as a team.

Jake Parpet, Conant baseball

Parpet had an unforgettable day at the plate against Rolling Meadows on Friday. The junior catcher belted his first two varsity home runs, a double, and had five RBIs as Conant rolled to a 17-2 victory.

Eliza Piggot, Grayslake Central softball

A junior catcher, Piggot went 6-for-11 with two home runs, two doubles, six RBIs, and five runs scored in three games.

Chloe Sentman, Benet Academy girls soccer

A sophomore, Sentman scored her second consecutive game winning goal for the Redwings with a goal to break a scoreless tie with Oswego at the Naperville Invitational on Friday. Benet would go on to win 3-0.

Louie Sisto, St. Rita baseball

Sisto had an efficient day on the mound for St. Rita on Tuesday as he allowed one run in six innings and struck out out nine Providence Catholic hitters in a 7-1 win. 

Addison Stanciak, Warren Township girls soccer

A sophomore forward, Stanciak had an impressive showing for Warren during the BodyArmor Sports Series over the weekend. She scored five goals and also contributed an assist in three games.

Laney Stark, St. Charles North girls soccer

A junior, Stark led the scoring effort for the North Stars in their opening game of the Naperville Invitational against Waubonsie on Thursday. St. Charles North won 4-0 behind Stark’s three-goal effort.

Katie Stewart, Lincoln-Way East softball

Stewart led the Griffins offensive attack with a long home run during their 13-3 win over Lockport on Tuesday. The senior shortstop and Texas commit increased her season home run total to 11 while also helping Lincoln-Way East secure its 11th win.

Peyton Soske, Barrington baseball

Soske overcame two lightning delays on Wednesday and led Barrington to a win both on the mound and at the plate. The senior doubled and scored a run and held Fremd’s lineup in check to earn the win on the mound as the Broncos won 2-1.

Jaxson Tresenriter, Dunlap baseball

A sophomore pitcher, Tresenriter was effective against a tough conference opponent in East Peoria on Monday. The sophomore tossed a complete game and struck out 10 Raider hitters.

Drew Zemaitis, Providence Catholic baseball

Zemaitis was dominant on the mound against Loyola Academy on Saturday. The senior Xavier commit tossed a complete game while allowing just one hit and one unearned run. He struck out 8 Ramblers as the Celtics won 4-1.
