Providence takes over the No. 1 spot, while Evanston, Downers Grove North, Morris and Plainfield Central enter the rankings.

Here's a look at the SBLive Illinois Power 25 (records through May 7):

1. Providence (23-4)

Last week: 2

Catholic Blue leaders are 14-2 in conference after wins over Marmion (7-6 and 5-4), Brother Rice (13-7) and Montini (7-5). Also lost 13-5 to Lincoln-Way East.

2. Joliet Catholic (18-6-1)

Last week: 6

Hilltoppers begin the week with a four-game winning streak and half-game lead over second-place St. Viator in the East Suburban Catholic. Last week they beat Niles Notre Dame 7-2, Nazareth 8-2, Oak Park-River Forest 8-4 and Carmel 10-0.

3. Brother Rice (17-11)

Last week: 3

Second in Catholic Blue at 12-3. Fell 5-2 to St. Rita and 13-7 to Providence before bouncing back to beat St. Rita 18-12 (rallying from 6-0 down), Oak Lawn 4-3 and Loyola 14-5.

4. St. Laurence (21-7)

Last week: 4

Vikings have won five straight and are third in Catholic Blue at 10-3. Last week they beat Mount Carmel 9-5 as Luke Stulga hit for the cycle, swept Loyola 8-4 and 8-2, and edged St. Rita 3-2.

5. Evanston (23-3)

Last week: NR

Wildkits lead Central Suburban South at 10-1 and went 5-0 last week, beating Niles West 14-0 and 7-5, Vernon Hills 11-9, St. Patrick 9-7 and Maine East 12-2.

6. New Trier (19-4)

Last week: 5

Trevians split with Glenbrook South (3-2 win, 6-5 loss in eight innings) and beat Niles North 11-1.

7. Nazareth (20-4)

Last week: 1

Roadrunners have dropped four of six after an 18-0 start and are third in ESCC behind Joliet Catholic and St. Viator. Last week they beat Marian Catholic 4-0 and fell 8-2 to Joliet Catholic and 8-6 to Niles Notre Dame.

8. Huntley (21-4)

Last week: 8

Red Raiders have won six in a row and lead Fox Valley Valley at 12-3. Last week they beat Hampshire 16-6 and 11-3, knocked off Wauconda 10-3, rolled by Dundee-Crown 22-5 and defeated Rockford Boylan 6-2.

9. Edwardsville (22-7)

Last week: 9

Southwestern leaders went 5-0 last week. They swept Belleville West 16-2 and 12-1 and also had wins over Glenwood (3-1), Highland (10-0) and Teutopolis (13-2) to capture their own Tiger Classic.

10. Mahomet-Seymour (24-3)

Last week: 10

Apollo leaders have won 11 in a row. Last week they beat Heyworth 13-0 and swept Mattoon 13-0 and 9-1. Blake Wolters struck out 13 in the first Mattoon game and Mason Orton fanned 17 in the second matchup.

11. Downers Grove North (20-4)

Last week: NR

West Suburban Silver leaders are 10-2 in conference and have won five in a row overall. Last week they swept Hinsdale Central 5-1, 4-2 and 10-7, and beat Proviso East 15-4.

12. Lockport (17-8)

Last week: 12

Porters have won five in a row after victories over Sandburg (11-1 and 9-5), defending Indiana Class 3A champ Andrean (8-3) and Minooka (7-6).

13. Lincoln-Way East (20-6)

Last week: 13

Southwest Suburban Blue leaders at 8-1, Griffins swept Bolingbrook 12-2 and 7-2, and knocked off Providence 13-5.

14. Lincoln-Way West (19-6)

Last week: 14

Warriors lead Southwest Suburban Red at 7-2. They swept Stagg 5-1 and 8-7, and beat Hanover Central (Ind.) 7-6.

15. St. Charles East (19-2)

Last week: 22

DuKane-leading Saints beat Geneva 7-0 and 17-5 to complete a three-game sweep. They also won two of three from rival St, Charles North (2-1 loss, 2-0 and 4-2 wins).

16. Lyons (19-5)

Last week: 7

Second in West Suburban Silver at 12-3. Last week, Lions swept Oak Park-River Forest 14-2, 8-6 and 11-0, and fell 3-0 to Homewood-Flossmoor and 6-1 to Hinsdale Central.

17. Stevenson (21-7)

Last week: 11

Patriots remain tied with Libertyville for North Suburban lead at 8-2. They swept Zion-Benton 15-1 and 11-0, beat McHenry 10-3 and fell 8-5 to Antioch.

18. St. Rita (18-8)

Last week: 17

Mustangs split with Brother Rice (5-2 win, 18-12 loss), beat Marmion 8-3 and were edged 3-2 by St. Laurence.

19. St. Viator (16-5)

Last week: 18

Lions lost 3-1 to St. Patrick before beating Loyola 8-1, Glenbard South 5-2 and Marist 3-0.

20. Lemont (18-6)

Last week: 19

South Suburban Blue leaders are 11-0 in conference. They beat Oak Lawn 10-0 and Eisenhower 14-1 and fell 5-4 to Hinsdale Central in the Do It Stevie's Way Tournament.

21. Warren (18-6)

Last week: 20

Blue Devils went 4-1, sweeping Waukegan 17-0 and 13-3, blanking Wilmot (Wis.) 8-0, beating Kenosha (Wis.) St. Joseph 7-4 and losing 9-7 to Fremd.

22. Morris (21-3)

Last week: NR

Interstate Eight leaders are 12-0 in conference and have won 14 in a row overall. Last week they swept Ottawa 7-1 and 10-2, and beat Oswego 12-6.

23. Plainfield Central (22-6)

Last week: NR

Wildcats have won five in a row. Last week they swept Plainfield South 12-3, 18-7 and 14-13 before knocking off Stagg 12-7.

24. Lane (20-9)

Last week: 21

Champions shared Public League Jackie Robinson North title with Von Steuben. They split with Ogden (4-3 loss, 11-0 win), beat Highland Park 17-5 and downed Hope Academy 4-1.

25. Father McGivney (30-1)

Last week: 23

Gateway Metro leader at 10-0, Griffins beat Valmeyer 15-0, Metro East Lutheran 19-2 and Belleville West 12-1 before falling 4-2 to Farina South Central and defeating Breese Mater Dei 11-8.
