West Des Moines Valley vaults to No. 2 after wins over Dowling, Waukee NW

West Des Moines Valley is the big mover in SBLive Iowa's second set of all-class girls basketball rankings. The Tigers earned big wins over West Des Moines Dowling and Waukee Northwest last week. 

1. Johnston (3-0) 

Iowa State recruit Aili Tanke has made 10 of her 15 3-pointers (66.7%) and averaged nearly 19 points in her first three outings.

2. West Des Moines Valley (4-0)

UNI recruit Elise Jaeger scored 23 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and made 4 of 6 from 3-point range in Valley's head-turning 55-42 win over West Des Moines Dowling.

3. West Des Moines Dowling (2-2)

Maroons also lost a 79-76 shootout to Providence Academy (Minn.), as Ava Zediker had 32 points and nine rebounds, and Ellie Muller had 24 points and 12 rebounds.

4. Waukee (4-0)

Included in the quick start is a 62-57 win over Ankeny in which Kirsten Hauck had 15 points and six assists, sinking 4 of 7 from behind the arc.

5. Davenport North (2-2)

Both of the Wildcats' losses are to Minnesota powers. Iowa recruit Journey Houston is averaging 24.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.3 steals.

6. Solon (4-0)

In a 71-43 win over Williamsburg, Hailey Miller had 30 points, including 5 of 9 from 3-point range.

7. Dike-New Hartford (3-1)

Wolverines have averaged nearly 24 wins over the past six seasons.

8. Dallas Center-Grimes (4-0)

Impressive victories over Ballard and North Polk opened the season for the Mustangs.

9. Clear Creek-Amana (3-0)

Bliss Beck scored 21 points and added nine rebounds in a 57-45 win over Iowa City West.

10. North Linn (3-1)

Through four games, the balanced Lynx are hitting an excellent 35.7 percent (35 for 98) from 3-point range.

11. Ankeny Centennial (3-1)

Mya Crawford had 21 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 75-33 win over Urbandale.

12. Ankeny (2-2)

Sophomore Jayla Williams had 24 points and eight rebounds in the Hawks' five-point loss to Waukee.

13. Pleasant Valley (2-1)

Spartans have a huge home game on Tuesday against Davenport North.

14. Newell-Fonda (2-0)

Mustangs upended Sioux Central 48-38 despite making just three of their 25 3-point attempts.

15. Sioux City Heelan (2-0)

Melina Snoozy, a 5-foot-11 freshman with multiple Division I offers, helped the Crusaders past Sioux City East, 51-49.

16. Sioux City East (1-1)

In their loss to Heelan, the Black Raiders were without sophomore Trishelle Miller, who has multiple Division I offers and averaged 20.3 points as a freshman.

17. Cedar Falls (3-1)

In the Tigers' five-point loss to Ankeny, Grace Knutson had 24 points, six steals and five rebounds.

18. Waukee Northwest (2-2)

Four freshmen are among the balanced Wolves' top six scorers.

19. Sioux Central (3-1)

Senior Bradi Krager is averaging 20.0 points while shooting 47.6 percent (10 of 21) from 3-point range.

20. Norwalk (5-0)

Junior Bailey Birmingham leads Class 4A in scoring at 29.8 points per game. She made 14 of 23 at the free-throw line in a 69-67 win over Pella.

21. North Polk (2-1)

Abby Tuttle averages 14.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.3 steals for the Comets.

22. Estherville-Lincoln Central (3-1)

Rylee Yager had 28 points, 10 rebounds and six steals in an 88-38 win over Western Christian.

23. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (4-0)

In a 63-52 win over Pella Christian, Aliya Wagamon had 18 points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists.

24. Southeast Polk (3-1)

Junior Alyssa Bartlett is averaging 20.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists while making 17 of 18 free throws (94.4%).

25. Waverly-Shell Rock (3-0)

Freshman Lizzy Frazell led the way with 14 points and the Go-Hawks outrebounded Cedar Rapids Xavier 35-22 in a 55-50 win.
