No. 3 Davenport North wins 5A showdown; No. 4 Dowling rebounds vs. Waukee

Johnston remains atop SBLive Iowa's third set of all-class state rankings, while Davenport North moves up two spots after a big win over Pleasant Valley.

1. Johnston (5-0)

Dragons have set a torrid early scoring pace, averaging 75.2 points to rank second among Iowa's 348 teams.

2. West Des Moines Valley (6-0) 

Tigers limited Ankeny Centennial to 21.7% shooting (10 for 46) Friday in a 35-24 victory.

3. Davenport North (4-2)

Divine Bourrage (20 points, 17 rebounds, 8 assists) and Journey Houston (15 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals) set the tone in an important 62-51 win over Pleasant Valley on Tuesday.

4. West Des Moines Dowling (3-3)

Maroons bounced back from a 12-point loss to Johnston Tuesday with a 60-50 win over Waukee on Friday.

5. Waukee (5-1)

In the 10-point loss to Dowling, Waukee shot 17 for 23 (73.9 percent) from 2-point range but only 5 of 22 (22.7 percent) from 3.

6. Solon (6-0)

Hailey Miller made 6 of 10 3-pointers in a 56-21 win over Grinnell.

7. Dike-New Hartford (5-1)

Payton Petersen had 37 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 4 assists as the Wolverines led by just five after three quarters but pulled away for a 61-48 win over Waterloo Columbus.

8. Dallas Center-Grimes (6-0)

DC-G ranks second in 4A in defensive average, allowing just 31.8 points per game.

9. Clear Creek-Amana (4-0)

Sophomore Averie Lower has made 15 of 26 (57.7 percent) from 3-point range for the Clippers.

10. North Linn (5-1)

Lynx allowed single-digit points to an opponent in two of their first three games.

11. Ankeny Centennial (3-2)

Jaguars are the latest program to get a shot at No. 1 Johnston, Tuesday on the road.

12. Ankeny (4-2)

Jayla Williams had 32 points and 7 rebounds, hitting 4 of 5 from 3-point range, in a 62-56 win over Southeast Polk on Tuesday.

13. Newell-Fonda (5-0)

McKenna Sievers had a near-triple double with 17 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds in a 72-51 win over Algona Garrigan.

14. Sioux City Heelan (4-0)

Crusaders raced to a 39-23 halftime lead and went on to hand Le Mars its first loss, 63-53.

15. Pleasant Valley (4-2)

Spartans will meet West Des Moines Dowling on Saturday in the Winter Tipoff Classic at Johnston.

16. Cedar Falls (5-1)

Sophomore Karis Finley averages 15.3 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Tigers.

17. Sioux Central (5-1)

Sophomore Avery Wilson is averaging 20.3 points while hitting 13 of 21 (61.9%) of her 3-pointers.

18. Norwalk (7-0)

The Warriors forced 27 turnovers in a 62-29 win over Pella Christian on Friday.

19. North Polk (4-1)

Comets rank third in 4A in defensive average, allowing just 33.2 points per game.

20. Waukee Northwest (2-3)

Sadie Maas had 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 49-41 win over Southeast Polk on Friday.

21. Estherville-Lincoln Central (5-1)

Midgets have a big one Tuesday at 1A power Newell-Fonda.

22. Southeast Polk (3-3)

Things don't get easier for the battle-tested Rams, whose losses are to Waukee, Ankeny and Waukee Northwest. They're at Dowling on Tuesday.

23. Sioux City East (3-2)

Hard to know where the Black Raiders should be, because sophomore Trishelle Miller, who averaged 20.3 points last year, has been out with an injury.

24. Waverly-Shell Rock (5-0)

Senior Brenna Bodensteiner is averaging 16.0 points while hitting 20 of her 38 3-pointers (52.6%).

25. Central Lyon (6-0)

Last year's Class 2A state runner-up is making some noise again in northwest Iowa.
