Here are the candidates for SBLive Sports Maryland High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 4-9 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive's staff. Read through our notes on each nominee and then cast your vote in out poll.

Voting will conclude on Sunday, December 18th and the winner will be announced next week. If you would like to nominate an athlete, please email the name and a brief description of his performance, with stats if available, to gary@scorebooklive.com.

Here are this week's nominees:

Zyleigh Adams, South River: The junior totaled 30 points in two games, hitting a key layup late in regulation in a 42-41 victory over St. Mary’s.

Maya Fravel, Boonsboro: The senior guard/forward had 23 points in Boonsboro’s 57-48 season opening win over Fort Hill.

Elisah Guity, Carver A&T: The sophomore guard posted 21 points in Carver’s 59-16 victory over Owings Mills.

Sydney Huskey, Frederick: Huskey, a senior guard, had 20 points as Frederick defeated Jefferson (West Va.), 61-31, in the regular season opener.

Lauren Kraft, Hereford: The senior forward, who will play for Catholic next year, had 23 points in Hereford’s 44-21 victory over Catonsville.

Briana Lee, Middletown: The junior guard finished with 25 points in Middletown’s season-opening 75-47 victory over Tuscarora.

Madison McDaniel, Bishop McNamara: The senior guard who will play for South Carolina, finished with 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds in McNamara’s 66-61 over Duncanville (Tex.) at the She Got Game Classic in Virginia.

Alex Vandiver, St. Mary’s: The sophomore forward had 19 points as St. Mary’s defeated Broadneck, 45-39.

Azareya Whiting, Havre de Grace: The senior posted 25 points and 13 steals in a win over Bohemia Manor (51-12) and 17 points and 13 rebounds as Havre de Grace defeated Perryville, 57-22.

Ava Wooster, Southern: The senior forward finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, including her 500th career board as Southern defeated Indian Creek, 64-39.
