Here are the candidates for the Minnesota High School Athlete of the Week for Aug. 24 - Sept. 2 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Jack Mills, Carleton Airport
Senior running back and safety, Jack Mills, was everywhere on the field for Carleton Airport in their 48-27 win over Riverview.
Mills rushed the ball 19 times for 130 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns, while racking three receptions for 23 yards and one receiving touchdown.
On the defensive side, Mills would compile 10 total tackles, with one tackle for loss.
Conner Temple, Eisenhower High School
Junior wide receiver, Conner Temple, had a big day for the Eagles as Eisenhower won big over Henry Ford, 55-7. Temple would finish the game with seven receptions for 125 receiving yards, and one touchdown.
Shamar Riser-Pressley, Clintondale High School
Senior tight end and defensive end, Shamar Riser-Pressley, showed once again that he is a top talent in Michigan as Clintondale defeated New Haven, 58-15. Riser-Pressley caught five passes for 121 receiving yards, and two touchdowns on offense, while compiling six total tackles on defense, two tackles for losses, and two sacks, with one forced fumble.
CJ Carr, Saline High School
Senior quarterback and Notre Dame commit, CJ Carr, showed his versatility as he led Saline past Dexter, 41-25. Carr would finish the day with four total touchdowns as he threw two and ran two more in with his feet.
Myles Moore, Avondale High School
Senior running back, Myles Moore, proved his talents for Avondale as they squeaked by Ortonville Brandon, 17-14. Moore would finish the game with 24 rushing attempts, racking up 169 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown.
Luke Johnson, Oxford High School
Junior linebacker and running back, Luke Johnson, had himself a day for Oxford in their 37-0 win over Oak Park. Offensively, Johnson would finish the game with seven rushing attempts for 57 rushing yards, and one touchdown, while catching one pass for 30 yards, which resulted in another touchdown.
Defensively, Johnson racked up nine total tackles for the Wildcats.
Desmond Straughton, Roseville High School
Junior athlete, Desmond Straughton, proved his skills in Roseville’s close win over Romeo. Straughton would finish the game with three touchdowns on the day, one of which came late in the game to give Roseville the 33-30 win.
Bryce Underwood, Belleville High School
Junior top ranked quarterback for the class of 2025, Bryce Underwood, continued to contribute to Belleville’s dominance in their 56-7 win over Livonia Stevenson. Underwood would finish the day with three touchdown passes for the Tigers.
Ronny Johnson, Dexter High School
Junior running back, Ronny Johnson, made some huge plays for Dexter despite their 41-25 loss to Saline. Johnson would rush for over 200 yards and also finished with a touchdown in the loss.
Isaiah Marshall, Southfield A&T
Senior quarterback and Kansas commit, Isaiah Marshall, came up huge as Southfield A&T edged Clarkston, 20-17.
Marshall finished three total touchdowns, as he ran in two and threw for one, including a go-ahead touchdown for A&T to secure the win.
Kayla Nwabueze, Bloomfield Hills
In girls volleyball, sophomore, Kayla Nwabueze, had a great performance for Bloomfield Hills in their 2-1 win over Detroit Country Day. Nwabueze finished the match with 15 kills, nine digs, and one total block.
Annalise Weeder, Croswell-Lexington High School
Senior, Annalise Weeder, showcased her unselfish skills for Croswell-Lexington despite their 2-1 loss to Utica. Weeder finished the match with 26 assists, seven digs, and one total block.
Kate Kalczynski, Mercy High School
Freshman, Kate Kalczynski, showed out for Mercy with her performance in their loss to Bloomfield Hills, 2-1. Kalczynski finished the match with 14 kills, three serving aces, and eight digs.
Lukas Krueger, Howardsville Christian
In boy’s soccer, sophomore Lukas Krueger had a great performance for Howardsville Christian in their 6-2 win over Heritage Christian Academy. Krueger would finish the game with two goals and two assists.
Spencer Sanchez, Marine City
Junior Spencer Sanchez had a good performance for Marine City despite a 9-3 loss to Everest Collegiate. Sanchez finished the game scoring two of Marine City’s three goals.
