The 2023 MSHSL baseball tournament concluded on Friday, June 16.
Here are performances from athletes that stood out during the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

Logan Mielke, New Ulm Cathedral
Mielke dominated as a pinch hitter in the quarterfinal win against Yellow Medicine East. His double cleared the bases for three RBIs in the 7-0 win.
Hunter VaDeer, Lyle/Pacelli
VaDeer dominated on the mound in the quarterfinals with 11 strikeouts against Hinckley-Finlayson. He finished with 6.1 innings pitched, and he allowed three earned runs with one walk. VaDeer also had an RBI walk on a 3-2 count in the bottom of the seventh to give Lyle/Pacelli the chance to win against Fosston.
Hudson Boushee, Fosston
Boushee threw six innings and allowed only four hits and one run while striking out six batters and walking one in the title game against Lyle/Pacelli. Boushee also hit three RBIs in the quarterfinal win against Legacy Christian Academy, and he hit one RBI in the semifinal win over Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa
Cullen Norland, Fosston
Norland had four RBIs in three games in the state tournament. He had three RBIs in the quarterfinal against Legacy Christian. He had one RBI in the semifinals against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.
Cale Haugen, Esko
Haugen hit three RBIs in the 9-0 win in the Class 2A title game. He also threw 12 strikeouts, and zero walks, in the 1-0 quarterfinal win over St. Agnes.
Isaak Sertich, Esko
Sertich had five RBIs in the three state tournament games. He had four RBIs in the semifinals against Cannon Falls, and he had one RBI in the title win over Perham.
Blaiz Schmidt, Perham
Schmidt pitched 6.1 innings in 3-2 Class 2A semifinal win over Fairmont. Schmidt allowed two runs, eight hits while striking out seven and walking three. He also had two RBIs in the quarterfinal win against Foley.
Nolan Eischens, New Prague
Eischens had three RBIs in the Class 3A final win over Mahtomedi. He also recorded the save with 1.1 innings pitched, and he allowed no baserunners.
He added 1.2 scoreless innings pitched in the Trojans semifinal win over Monticello, and he pitched 1.1 scoreless innings in the quarterfinal against Little Falls. He also had two hits in the quarterfinal.
Cal Ulven, Monticello
Ulven pitched seven innings, allowing only one hit and no runs, in a quarterfinal win over Benilde-St. Margaret’s
Ethan Felling, Mahtomedi
Felling, a sophomore, had a complete game shutout of Byron in the quarterfinals. He had 12 strikeouts, one walk and he allowed only three hits.
Kyle Henke, Grand Rapids
Henke had three hits and two RBIs in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
Max Arlich, East Ridge
Arlich was the ace for the Class 4A champions. He pitched a complete game shutout in the title game against Rosemount. He also pitched four innings in the quarterfinals against Lakeville South, where he allowed one run.
Carter Theisen, Rosemount
Theisen had a memorable overall game in the semifinals against Edina. He pitched seven innings, allowing two runs while he hit two RBIs at the plate.
Jacob McCuskey, Minnetonka
McCuskey had three RBIs in three games. He had two RBIs in a win over Mounds View in the quarterfinal, and he added one in a loss to East Ridge.
