Ben Burk, Lakeville South
Another year, another strong Panther squad that coach Burk has assembled. The Panthers used a last second field goal to make it five straight victories over their in-city rival Lakeville North.
Andy Rostberg, Hutchinson
Last year, Rostberg’s team was known for its buzz saw of an offensive. This year, however, it's the defense that's shined thus far. The Tigers stymied the Totino-Grace offensive on Friday en route to a 20-3 victory.
Matt Lombardi, Maple Grove
After a loss a week ago to Champlin Park, Lombardi’s unit responded in a big way against undefeated Centennial. The Cougars had no answer for the Maple Grove rushing attack as the Crimson would go on to win 41-28.
Nick Johnson, Eagan
Johnson and his staff are quietly building one of the top squads in the west metro. The Wildcats, who lost 39-7 to Rosemount last season, got their revenge on Friday. Tough defensive and timely red zone conversions saw the Wildcats squeeze out a 17-6 victory over the Irish.
Bryan Dahl, Chaska
After a tough first two games to open the season, Chaska responded nicely on Friday. Dahl’s offense built its lead in the second quarter and played good defense down the stretch to hand Mankato East its first loss of the season.
Beau Labore, Stillwater
Labore’s squad has struggled to find its identity so far this season, but things are starting to click for the Ponies. A balanced run-pass offense saw Stillwater get a solid win versus a good East Ridge squad, 28-20.
Ryan Fay, Princeton
The Tigers played a very formidable Willmar squad that gave them all they could handle. Willmar had a chance to potentially win the game with a last minute 2-point conversion, but the Tiger defense stood tall and pulled out a 39-38 victory to stay perfect on the year.
Justin Turner, Maple Grove (boys soccer)
The Crimson have looked like one of the three best teams in the state this year, and that trend continued this week. Maple Grove picked up two shoutout wins over Armstrong Cooper and Totino-Grace to remain unbeaten.
Bo Schmidt, Rogers (volleyball)
Since dropping its first match of the season, Rogers has looked unbeatable. This week, the Royals took down a surging Maple Grove squad and parlayed that with a sweep of Osseo to bring its overall record to 5-1.
Devin Chuba, Zimmerman (girls soccer)
It's been an electric start to the season for Chuba’s squad, and this week was no different. The Thunder had a perfect 3-0 record which included a 14-0 drubbing of Princeton.
