Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week for April 25-May 1 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Hannah Jo Sullivan, Brandon softball: Sullivan went 4-for-4 with a single and three home runs - including a walk-off home run - to lift Brandon past Northwest Rankin in game two of the second round of the 6A playoffs.

Anna Grace Whitehead, Kosciusko softball: Whitehead tossed a one-hitter in a second-round playoff series sweep of Itawamba AHS. At the plate, she also hit a home run.

Lanayah Henry, Neshoba Central softball: Henry pitched a perfect game against Lake Cormorant with eight strikeouts.

Olivia Miller, West Marion softball: Miller led West Marion with four hits in a 13-4 victory over Southeast Lauderdale in game two of their second-round 3A playoff series.

Alexis Mosley, Shannon girls track and field: The 7th grader out of Plantersville Middle School represented Shannon at the 4A state track meet and won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.18 seconds.

Madeline Manuel, Clinton girls tennis: Manuel defeated Biloxi High School in straight sets (7-5, 6-0) to advance to the state quarterfinals.

Trace Beard, Choctaw County baseball: The senior went 3-for-4 at the plate with three home runs, six RBIs, four walks, and no strikeouts in the second round of the playoffs. 

Ross Highfill, Madison Central baseball: The Mississippi State commit hit a three-run home run to lift Madison Central to an 11-5 win over Starkville in the second of the 6A playoffs.

Andrew Arrant, Pearl baseball: Arrant got the win on the mound and tossed a complete game two-hitter, only giving up three runs with 11 strikeouts to even the 6A second-round playoff series against D'Iberville.

Jacob Parker, Purvis baseball: The freshman hit a walk-off two-run single to send Purvis past Newton County, 4-3, in game one of the 4A second-round playoff series.

Zay Harris, Germantown boys track and field: Harris took home an individual shot put 6A state title with a throw of 49’ 10.75. 

Eli Hilbun, Pass Christian baseball: In a little over six innings pitched, the senior struck out eight batters and only allowed two hits in a 2-1 game two second-round playoff win against Northeast Jones.
