SBLive Missouri high school girls basketball Power 25 rankings (Feb. 13): Park Hill South enters Top 10

Not much movement at the top as Incarnate Word rumbles toward the postseason pushing its winning streak to 91 games. Truman continues to pile up the wins and is in prime position to face off against Incarnate Word in the Class 6 semifinal round. Vashon continues to pass every test given, while Grain Valley flashing its potential with a victory over Raytown last week in a battle of Top 10 teams.

Here's a look at the SBLive Missouri Power 25 (with records through Feb. 12):

1. Incarnate Word (23-0)

Last week: 1

The Red Knights ran their winning streak to an unprecedented 91 games. The longest winning streak in Missouri high school girls basketball history of 123 games set by Strafford from 2016 to 2019 is within sight. Incarnate Word has two conference matchups with Nerinx Hall and Ursuline before a showdown with John Burroughs to conclude the regular season. University of Nebraska commit Natalie Potts continues her assault on scoreboards and scoresheets, averaging 19.8 points, 7.6 rebounds a game to go along with over two steals a contest.

2. Truman (21-1)

Last week: 2

The Patriots seem to be on a collision course with the juggernaut that is Incarnate Word. The Patriots still have not lost to a Missouri school and pushed its winning streak to 11 games. Truman features two home games against Oak Park and Blue Springs before a road trip to St. Joseph Central to conclude the regular season. Coach Jim Page's squad features seven seniors that have helped craft this team that has won 67 games in their four-year careers with the Patriots jersey on.

3. Vashon (18-5)

Last week: 3

After losing to Incarnate Word, the Wolverines are humming right along. Vashon used a strong second half to surge past Lutheran St. Charles in a matchup of ranked teams. Coach John Albert's squad is clicking at the right time just before the Class 4 postseason. JaNyla Bush, Chantrel Clayton and Raychel Jones form a three-headed nightmarish monster for teams to match up against.

4. Republic (19-3)

Last week: 4

The Tigers managed to surge back in a ranked matchup against Nixa. They outscored Nixa 22-11 in the final frame before picking up a win over Webb City on Friday to run their winning streak to four games. Republic has a matchup with Ozark before three consecutive games against teams that have under .500 records.

5. John Burroughs (22-2)

Last week: 6

The Bombers ripped their way through the first two rounds of the Villa Duchesne Tournament before clawing its way to a win over Pattonville in the title game. Burroughs pushed its winning streak to 12 games since suffering a loss to Incarnate Word in the Visitation tournament final. The Bombers have a massive showdown against Lutheran St. Charles on the road on Tuesday before a rematch with Incarnate Word on Feb. 21.

6. Grain Valley (19-4)

Last week: 8

The Eagles pushed their winning streak to a season-high eight games. Grain Valley held an 18-point lead deep into the fourth quarter before Raytown made its push. The Eagles saw their lead trimmed to just six points, but were able to hold on for the victory. They will have a trip to Belton this week before a senior night matchup against William Chrisman next week.

7. Carl Junction (22-1)

Last week: 7

Still streaking towards the Class 5 playoffs, the Bulldogs have stretched their lead to 17 games on the season. Carl Junction picked up back-to-back home wins over Carthage and Branson last week. It'll kick off the week with a senior night game against Neosho before a trip to Ozark. The Bulldogs have a showdown with Webb City to conclude the regular season next week.

8. Raytown (17-2)

Last week: 5

After a three-point win over Bishop Miege, the Blue Jays were ambushed on the road against Grain Valley. Despite trimming an 18-point deficit to just six points, they couldn't get over the hump. Raytown will get a chance to rebound against William Chrisman before hosting Platte County.

9. Park Hill South (20-3)

Last week: 12

South has had a little bit of an easier schedule recently after facing a daunting slate at the beginning of the year. After winning the Nixa Invitational Tournament, the Panthers picked have pushed their winning streak to 12 games. They have two matchups with Staley and Liberty this week before a matchup at Lee's Summit North next week before starting the Class 6 postseason.

10. Rolla (18-4)

Last week: 10

Tallied two victories last week with the biggest being a 60-41 victory over Bolivar at home. The Bulldogs clicked on all cylinders in the second quarter, outscoring Bolivar 17-6 in the second quarter. Junior Willow Gideon led the way with 23 points while junior Rea Martin poured in 22 points in the win. They will have a matchup with West Plains this week before a home game against Springfield Central.

11. Cape Notre Dame (17-4)

Last week: 9

After pushing its winning streak to five games, the Bulldogs suffered a 15-point home loss to Westminster Christian Academy. They will get a chance to right the ship with trips to Farmington and Cor Jesu before a cross-town rivalry game against Cape Girardeau Central to conclude the regular season next week.

12. Helias Catholic (17-5)

Last week: 11

The Crusaders split a pair of games last week with a win over Battle to kick off the week before future Missouri Tiger standout Abbey Schreacke proved too much as Quincy Notre Dame (Ill.) knocked off the Crusaders on the road. Junior Adalyn Koelling picked up another double-double in the 52-47 loss with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Helias will have one game scheduled this week before facing crosstown rival Jefferson City next week.

13. Strafford (18-6)

Last week: 13

After suffering back-to-back losses for the first time since the 2020-21 season, the Indians are back to their winning ways. They have a road matchup with Skyline before a huge matchup on a senior night against Fair Grove. The Class 3 power will kick off the district tournament as the No. 2 seed against Pleasant Hope.

14. Lutheran St. Charles (19-4)

Last week: 15

Dominated two road games against St. Dominic and Santa Fe sandwiched around a 10-point home loss to Vashon. The Cougars were outscored in the second half 36-23, led by a double-double by Jordan Speiser who scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Megan Aulbert scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the loss. Lutheran has a massive showdown with John Burroughs left on its schedule before the postseason begins.

15. Farmington (19-4)

Last week: 14

The Knights pushed their winning streak to five games before falling to Park Hill Central in the Mineral Area Activities Association tournament title game. Farmington a huge matchup with Cape Notre Dame before a road trip to South Iron to end the week. Will conclude the season with a road trip to Poplar Bluff before preparing for the Class 5 postseason.

16. Nixa (16-5)

Last week: 16

Nixa led by as many as 10 points against Republic and took a six-point lead into the fourth quarter before fading in the final quarter. Republic charged ahead, outscoring the Eagles 22-11 in the final frame to hand Nixa its second loss in the last five contests. The Eagles get a reprieve before facing Webb City on Thursday in the final home game of the season.

17. Rock Bridge (17-6)

Last week: 18

Since a loss to Vashon, the Bruins are rolling. Rock Bridge has picked up three wins, with two coming against teams above .500. The Bruins host a senior night matchup with Smith-Cotton before traveling to the St. Louis area to take on Miller Career.

18. Fair Grove (20-4)

Last week: NR

Dropped a nailbiter to Skyline on the road to kick off the month but has responded with four straight victories. The Eagles will kick off the week with a senior night contest against Buffalo before traveling to Class 3 powerhouse Strafford before kicking off the Class 3 District 11 tournament as the No. 1 seed.

19. Park Hills Central (20-3)

Last week: NR

The Rebels, after a hiccup to Fredericktown, have been on cruise control. Park Hill Central has pushed its winning streak to five games and picked up the Mineral Area Activities Association championship capped by a 15-point drumming of Farmington in the title game led by senior Halle Richardson's 13 points. Central has one game on the docket this week before senior night against Cape Girardeau Central early next week.

20. Jefferson City (14-7)

Last week: 17

After showing off their suffocating defense in a 20-point win over Capital City, the Jays couldn't get their offense going against Rock Bridge on the road. After scoring 37 points in a win, Jefferson City only managed 32 points in the home loss. The Jays have two road matchups against Boonville and Fatima before back-to-back showdowns with Helias Catholic and Hickman.

21. Meadville (24-0)

Last week: 22

The Eagles knocked off Bishop LeBlond on the road in a battle of two unbeaten teams. Meadville outscored Bishop LeBlond 11-2 in the game's final minutes, led by freshman Madison Carvajal who scored a game-high 23 points. The Eagles will put their unbeaten record on the line twice this week as it prepares for the Class 1 postseason with games against Schuyler County and Grundy County on the docket.

22. St. James (16-5)

Last week: 19

The Tigers split a pair of games last week at home. They picked up a 22-point win over Sullivan before dropping a conference game against Hermann. St. James has a huge slate of games set up this week: a battle with Battle looms before a road trip to Owensville. The trio of Kendall Costopolos (11.3 points a game), Livi Herron (10.7 ppg) and Emily Recker (10.5 ppg) lead the offensive attack. Costopolos mans the middle, ripping down 7.9 rebounds a game.

23. Hickman (16-4)

Last week: 21

The Kewpies suffered a home loss to Westminster in their only game of the week. The final four games of Hickman's schedule feature four brutal opponents. Nixa, Cardinal Ritter, Battle and Jefferson City all stand in the way of the Kewpies and the Class 6 postseason.

24. Bishop LeBlond (23-1)

Last week: 20

The Golden Eagles suffered their first loss of the season but responded with three consecutive wins. After the home loss to Meadville, Bishop LeBlond swept aside Cameron and Lafayette St. Joseph before holding on for a 46-41 victory over Jefferson Conception. Matchups with St. Pius X (KC) and Benton remain before heading into the Class 2 postseason.

25. South Shelby (21-3)

Last week: 23

The Cardinals picked up a pair of road wins with the most impressive coming at Brookefield to kick off the week. They will host Highland on Tuesday before going to Queen City with a date with Schuyler County. South Shelby has already defeated the Rams once this season in the North Shelby Tournament.
