Freshman set a new school record in the 1,600 meter run

Congratulations to Troy Buchanan's Jocelyn Haynes, who was voted SBLive's Missouri high school Athlete of the Week for April 17-23. She received more than 29 percent of the votes.

A freshman, Haynes ran 5:20.83 — nearly a 7-second drop from her previous best — to set a new school record in the 1,600 meter run and take first place at the Ft. Zumwalt North Invitational on April 21.

Grain Valley track and field athlete Alyssa Carver finished second in the voting with more than 20 percent of the votes.

A junior, Anderson won the 110 hurdles (14.68 seconds) and triple jump (46 feet 4 inches) and finished fourth in the 300 hurdles at the Brusca-Strohbach Invitational at Ladue High School on Saturday.

Hudson Bailey, St. Pius X (KC) baseball

Bailey’s only hit of the game on Tuesday was a big one as he delivered a walk-off single to help the Warriors beat Oak Grove, 2-1.

Ayla Bishop, Eureka girls track and field

Bested the school record three different times and ended up with a final mark of 10 feet, 7 inches (3.23 meters) to take first place at the Parkway North Fred Lyons Invitational on April 21.

Adee Broesder, Lee’s Summit West girls track and field

The sophomore set a meet record with a time of 59.31 in the 400-meter dash at the Marc Cleveland Grain Valley Invitational on Thursday.

Hobbs Campbell, Joplin boys track and field

The senior, who signed with Kansas, won the 3,200-meter race in a school-record time of 9:17.35 at the Gary Parker Invitational on Friday in Blue Springs.

Brayden Carter, Platte County baseball

A junior left-handed pitcher, Carter struck out 11 and tossed a complete-game shutout in a 2-0 win over Belton on Wednesday.

Alyssa Carver, Grain Valley girls track and field

Set a school record with a jump of 11 feet, breaking the previous mark by four inches — that she shared with Abby Castle. The jump allowed her to take first place at the Marc Cleveland Grain Valley Invitational on Friday.

Gauge Claunch, Warrensburg baseball

The first baseman was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run and three RBIs in a 7-5 win over Marshall on Thursday.

Maddy Colin, College Heights Christian softball

Fanned 13 in five innings and gave up only one hit as the Cougars picked up a 13-0 win over Golden City on Saturday in the Jasper Invitational.

Mia Devrouax, Whitfield girls soccer

In three games last week, she scored eight goals and added two assists. Had four of her team’s five goals in a win over Lutheran St. Charles on Monday.

Aaron Eubanks, Saxony Lutheran baseball

The first baseman was 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles in an 8-3 win over the Crusaders over Oak Ridge on Wednesday.

Hannah Franks, Carl Junction girls soccer

Had a hat trick in a 7-1 win against Pittsburg (Kansas) and then added a goal and three assists in an 8-1 win over Neosho last week.

Baker Fredal, Park Hill boys golf

In the battle of the Bragging Rights dual, Fredal shot a 3-over 39 to help Park Hill win a dual against Platte County by six shots on Thursday.

Jocelyn Haynes, Troy Buchanan girls track and field

The freshman ran 5:20.83 — nearly a 7-second drop from her previous best — to set a new school record and take first place at the Ft. Zumwalt North Invitational on April 21.

Brooklynn Johnson, East Buchanan girls track and field

The freshman threw a new school record with a throw of 37-7 3/4 to take first place at the Cameron Invitational on April 18, breaking Leslie Lober’s record set in 1999.

Jayli Johnson, College Heights Christian girls track and field

Picked up wins in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes for the Cougars at the Ozark 7 Conference track meet in Joplin.

Candra King, Palmyra girls track and field

She won first place in the shot put and discus at the Montgomery County meet on Monday and then set a school record with a throw of 12.74 meters (41-9 3/4) in the Gary Ewing Invitational on April 21.

Trey Kent-Landrum, Principia baseball

He went 6-for-7 with two doubles and six RBIs to help his team pick up 10-0 and 17-2 wins over Silex on Saturday.

Neveah Larkin, Poplar Bluff girls soccer

Recorded 10 saves in a 2-0 win over Saxony Lutheran on Wednesday, her fifth shutout of the season.

MacKenzie Lawless, Scott City softball

The junior was 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs and gave up only one hit and struck out seven batters in an 11-0 win over Oak Ridge on Thursday.

Tyler Leonard, Staley baseball

The Neosho (Kansas) Community College signee was 3-for-3 was two doubles and two RBIs in a 5-3 win over Lee’s Summit North on Monday.

Daniela Marquez, Carthage girls track and field

Tallied a goal in a 2-1 win against Branson and that broke the school's career scoring record with 63. The record was previously held by Brianna Marquez.

Taylor Martin, Moberly girls track and field

The junior set a new school record in the javelin with a throw of 33.38 to take first place and was also first in the discus at the Ken Asbury Invitational in Moberly.

Caden Mickelson, Liberty North boys golf

In a quad meet on Thursday, Mickelson shot a 1-over 72 to take first place by seven shots at Shoal Creek Golf Course for the Eagles.

Wyatt Miller, Platte Valley baseball

The co-op team got a standout performance from Miller, who struck out 10 in four innings of work in a 7-0 win over the Stewartsville/Osborn co-op on Monday.

Brycen Morrison, Kearney baseball

In a complete-game effort, he didn’t give up an earned run and fanned eight in a 5-1 win over Republic.

Prithvi Nagarajan, Thomas Jefferson boys tennis

The No. 1 player for the Cavaliers won in singles 8-0 and was part of a doubles team win with Devan Murali to help lead the team to a 9-0 win over Springfield Greenwood on Thursday in Joplin.

Jalea Price, Maryville girls soccer

The sophomore scored goals in the 29th, 42nd and 69th in a 3-1 win over St. Joseph Benton on Monday.

Bailey Robinson, Cameron girls track and field

Picked up the Daryl Lane Golden Spike Award for the most individual points at the Cameron Invitational by winning the 800-, 1,600-, and 3,200-meter runs and the triple jump.

Harry Satterlee, Joplin boys golf

Beat Republic’s Cason Bekemeier in a playoff on the second hole to take first place at Abbiatti’s BBQ Invitational at the Carthage Municipal Golf Course on Monday. During the first 18 holes, Satterlee shot a 1-under 70.

Kylie Scott, Lindbergh girls track and field

A jump of 3.75 meters helped Scott take first place while setting a new meet record Saturday at the Ladue Brusca-Strohbach Invitational. She also finished third in the high jump and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.

Nathan Spengler, Liberty baseball

The junior went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs for the Blue Jays in an 8-2 win over Staley on Wednesday.

Paige Stuart, Blue Springs girls track and field

The sophomore set a new school record with a 55.81 — a top 25 time in the U.S. — in the 400-meter dash at the Gary Parker Invitational on Friday.

Tatum Studer, Bishop LeBlond girls soccer

The University of St. Mary’s basketball signee scored the game-winner for the Golden Eagles in a 3-2 win over Benton on Tuesday in a double overtime showdown.

Justin Sullens, Capital City baseball

The Antelope Valley College signee went 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored in a 13-0 blanking of Warrensburg on Saturday.

Kennedy Travis, St. Clair girls soccer

Tallied six goals and had two assists in three games, going 2-1. She had a hat trick against Hillsboro in a 5-1 win on Tuesday.

Braden Wyatt, Harrisburg boys track and field

The senior set a new school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.34 at the Dennis Hancock Invitational on April 18.

Lucas Vanlanduit, Carl Junction baseball

Vanlanduit whirled a gem of a game in a Central Ozark Conference showdown with Neosho on Tuesday, April 18. He struck out 11 over seven innings and gave up only two hits in a 5-0 win.

Blake Wilburn, Scott City baseball

The right-hander threw a no-hitter against Neelyville in an 11-0 win with 11 strikeouts, the first of two no-hitters in a doubleheader. Teammate Lawson Graff struck out five in a three-inning no-hitter against Meadow Heights.
