Camdenton's Spencer Mellencamp voted SBLive's Missouri High School Athlete of the Week (May 15-21)

Congratulations to Camdenton baseball's Spencer Mellencamp, who was voted SBLive's Missouri high school Athlete of the Week for May 15-21. He received more than 68 percent of the votes.

Mellencamp, a junior, tossed a complete-game one-hitter — losing the no-hitter in the sixth inning — by striking to 10 in a 4-0 win over Springfield Hillcrest on May 16.

Harrisonville track athlete Kayleigh Norris finished second in the voting with more than 26 percent of the votes.

Caden Bogenpohl, Jackson baseball

He tossed a no-hitter in a 6-0 win over Oakville on Thursday and broke the school record for strikeouts with 18 — surpassing the previous mark by four. He also hit two home runs in the win.

Connor Burns, Southern Boone County boys track and field

The Oregon signee won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter sectional titles and was part of a winning 4x800-meter relay team that will move to the Class 3 finals.

Bubba Chapman, Chaminade boys golf

The Red Devils claimed the Class 5 title by a shot over Rockhurst and Chapman was a big reason why. He was part of a three-way tie for first place with Caden Mickelson of Liberty North and Jack Cobb of Rockhurst.

Max Chen, Ladue boys tennis

Went undefeated in singles on his way to the Class 2 championship in tennis, wrapping up on Saturday. He was in the finals for the second time in his career after finishing second in 2021.

Josh Cunningham, De Smet baseball

The right-hander who has signed with LSU tossed a no-hitter in a 7-0 win over SLUH to help the Spartans reach the finals in the Class 6 District 3 tournament.

Hayden Dixon, Schuyler County boys track and field

A Missouri signee, Dixon broke the Class 2 record in the shot put with a throw of 64 feet, 9 3/4 inches (19.75 meters) – easily beating the old mark of 63-8 set by Andy Oaker of Steelville in 2006. Dixon also won the discus title.

Thomas Garrett, Park Hill South boys track and field

He ran a 9:23.02 at the Class 5 Sectional 4 meet in the 3,200-meter run — the fastest time in state history for a freshman boy in the event. The mark was set by Rock Bridge standout Andrew Hauser in 2021. Garrett’s time is the ninth-best in the country this year for those in the Class of 2026.

Cale Higer, Savannah boys tennis

In a playoff match against defending state champions Warrensburg, he overcame a first-set loss to win in three and sent the Savages to the quarterfinals with a 5-4 win.

Timothy Johnson, Bishop LeBlond boys golf

He helped the Golden Eagles win the Class 3 team title thanks to a two-shot victory in the individual race, a one-over over the two-day event.

Jonathan Jordan, Rolla boys golf

Shot an even-par 140 over two days at the Class 4 finals and became the school’s first-ever boys state champion in golf.

Matthew Malmstrom, Helias boys track and field

The junior broke a school record that stood for more than 30 years in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.56 at the Class 4 Sectional 4 meet for the Crusaders.

Kayleigh Norris, Harrisonville girls track and field

She broke a pair of school records at the Class 4 Sectional 4 meet in Warrensburg, running 11:12.35 in the 3,200-meter and 2:16.19 in the 800-meter.

Shaan Patel, John Burroughs boys golf

In an all-St. Louis finals for the Class 3 singles tennis title, Patel won in two sets over Marquette’s Edward Yue on Friday.

Athena Peterson, Hickman girls track and field

She won the long jump and triple jump at the Class 5 Sectional 2 meet in Columbia while adding a runner-up finish in the 300-meter hurdles. The triple jump distance of 12.14 meters was a new school record.

Dugan Pogue, Sarcoxie baseball

The junior 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, two RBIs and threw a runner out on a stolen base attempt in an 8-3 win over Diamond on May 16. It was the first district win for the Bears since 2013.

Danny Radke, Whitfield boys tennis

Picked up a two-set win over Savannah’s Cole Horton in the Class 1 individual finals on Saturday — winning all of his matches at state 2-0.

Lindsay Ramsey, North Platte girls track and field

She was on the winning 4x400-meter relay, won the 400-meter dash, was on a runner-up finish in the 4x200-meter relay and took fourth in the 200-meter dash for the Class 2 champs. Her time in the 400 — 56.93 — is a new school record.

Isabella Renfro, Seneca girls track and field

She broke her own school record with a throw of 39 feet, 2 3/4 inches to win the sectional meet in West Plains and move on to the Class 3 state meet.

Asher Rust, Ash Grove boys golf

Fired a 5-over 149 to take first place at the Class 1 MSHSAA State Golf Championship, becoming the third champ in his school’s history in the sport.

Katie Sego, Bishop LeBlond girls soccer

With 2:24 left in the double overtime OT, freshman Kendall Cathcart sent a pass into the box that found Sego, another freshman, who scored to win 2-1. The showdown pitted the state’s No. 1-ranked Mid-Buchanan vs. No. 3-ranked LeBlond in the district finals.

Hailey Smith, Timberland girls track and field

Qualified for the Class 5 state meet in the triple jump on her final attempt at sectionals and her mark of 11.23 meters was a new school record.

Peyton Smith, Summit Christian Academy boys golf

Carded a 2-under 142 to claim the Class 2 golf championship, winning by a shot over California’s William Boyd. Smith is only the second boys' individual champion in an athlete event for the Lee’s Summit school.

Kenton Unruh, Staley baseball

The Bradley signee hit a walk-off single to help the Falcons rally and pick up a 5-4 win over Staley on May 16 in the opening round of districts.

Elyse Wilmes, Father Tolton girls track and field

She broke a pair of Class 2 records at the MSHSAA Championships. In the 800-meter (4:54.98) she broke a mark that stood since 2014 and then her 2:10.48 in the 800-meter broke a mark that has stood since 1993.
