Tiger Woods suffers leg injuries in roll-over car crash in Southern California

Tiger Woods was injured in a single vehicle roll-over car crash on Tuesday morning in Ranchos Palos Verdes, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff.

Woods reportedly sustained multiple injuries to his legs and underwent several hours of surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

L.A. County Fire Department's Fire Chief Daryl Osby, who was one of the first responders on the scene, said Woods was in serious but stable condition upon arrival. Osby said they had to use a Halligan tool and an ax to remove the car's windshield and pull Woods out of the vehicle. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department previously said the "jaws of life" were used to extricate Woods, which was incorrect.

Woods was driving northbound in a Genesis SUV - near the border of Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills Estates - when he reportedly hit the median, careened across the two southbound lanes, hit the curb and rolled over multiple times.

Woods grew up in Southern California and graduated from Western High in Anaheim in 1994. He played college golf at Stanford for two years before turning pro.
