NCISAA boys basketball: Greensboro Day edges Concord Academy to win 12th NCISAA state title

Christ School (4A), Burlington School (2A) and Northside Christian (1A) also bring home state titles

LEWISVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA – Jaydon Young came up huge down the stretch to lift No. 2 Greensboro Day to a 58-56 win against No. 1 Concord Academy in the championship game of the NCISAA 3A state tournament at Forsyth Country Day School.

Young, who has signed with Virginia Tech, scored 23 points, including the game-winner on a backdoor layup with less than a minute left to play to propel the Bengals to their 12th state championship under Coach Freddy Johnson, who also picked up his 1,166th career win, the most of any high school basketball coach in North Carolina.

Reid Carrier added 14 points for Greensboro Day, which finished its season 30-5. Avion Pinner led three players in double figures with 23 points for Concord Academy (31-7), while J.J. Moore added 11 and Isaiah Tate finished with 10.

NCISAA 1A: Northside Christian 64, United Faith 57

LEWISVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA--Josh Bullock scored 20 points, had nine assists, four steals and a blocked shot as No. 2 Northside Christian downed No. 1 United Faith 64-57 in the championship game of the NCISAA 1A state tournament.

Kamar Goudelock added 16 points and three rebounds and Antonio Perkins scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had three steals for Northside, which finished the season 22-14.

NCISAA 2A: Burlington School 78, Greenfield School 65

LEWISVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA--Burlington School captured its third straight NCISAA 2A state championship with a 78-65 win against Greenfield School on Saturday at Forsyth Country Day School.

Zion Walker scored a team-high 23 points for the Spartans, with 19 of those 23 coming from the free throw line. Burlington School made 39 of 49 free throws during the game.

Josh Randolph scored 14, Jordan Durham added 12 and Steven Lassister finished with 10 for Burlington School, which finished the season 22-15.

Matt Kirbry led all scorers with 26 points for Greenfield School (28-10), with Kyshon Atkinson adding 12 and Jake Adair chipping in with 11.


NCISAA 4A: Christ School 53, Carmel Christian 48

LEWISVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA--Emanuel Richards led three players in double figures with 16 points as No. 2 Christ School (Asheville) downed No. 1 Carmel Christian 53-48 to win the NCISAA 4A state tournament.

Jamari Briggs added 12 points for the Greenies, who finished the season 31-4. Bryson Cokley finished with 10.

Jaeden Mustaf led all scorers with 26 points for Carmel Christian (28-4), with Bryce Cash finishing with 10.
