Mark Holcomb is not stranger to taking on new challenges.

Holcomb, who built the Oak Grove football program from the ground up when the school opened in 2017, is now in his first year as the head coach at Bishop McGuinness.

Holcomb retired from the North Carolina public school system earlier this year to become the coach and assistants athletics director at McGuinness.

Oak Grove went 39-15 during his tenure, including a 10-0 regular season mark in 2022 and a trip to the second round of the NCHSAA 2-A state playoffs.

Before heading to Oak Grove, Holcomb enjoyed success at North Davidson with a record of 115-52 in 13 seasons.
