We have eight athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Athlete of the Week from 5-11 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Jordan Wolverton, Mount Tabor track and field: Wolverton scored 24 points and led the Spartans to the 4A state indoor track championship. He won the high jump, setting a new PR with a jump of 6-8, finished second in the long jump and third in the 55 hurdles. He was named the Most Outstanding Performer.

Cameron Stinson, Mallard Creek wrestling: Stinson won his 200th career match last week and has still yet to lose during his high school career. He will head into this weekend's state wrestling championships as the prohibitive favorite at 126 pounds in the 4A classification.

Sean Setzer, Ashley swimming: Setzer won the 50 free and the 100 free and set new state records in both events in the 4A state swimming championships last weekend.

Mere Whelehan, Green Hope swimming: Whelehan won three state titles last weekend at the 4A swimming state championships, the 200 and 400 freestyle races and swam a leg on the 200 freestyle relay team.

Cuthbertson girls indoor track team: won their seventh straight NCHSAA state championship last weekend at JDL Fast Track. It was the Cavaliers' third straight as a 4A school after winning four in a row as a 3A school.

Joslyn Hamilton, Rolesville indoor track: Hamilton won the 55 m and the 55 hurdles in the 4A indoor track state championships and was named the girls Most Outstanding Performer.

Luke Nebrich, West Davidson: won the 50 free and set a new state record in 20.36 seconds and also captured the 100 fly. He was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the 2A-1A state championships.

Kate Sears, Watauga girls basketball: Sears recorded a triple double with 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in a 77-55 win over Hibriten. She scored 24 points, had 11 rebounds and our steals in a 64-43 loss against Alexander Central earlier in the week.
