St. Francis DeSales lacrosse ATK David Chintala voted SBLive’s Ohio High School Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to St. Francis DeSales lacrosse attack David Chintala for being voted SBLive’s Ohio High School Athlete of the Week for May 30-June 5!
The senior scored nine goals and had an assist as St. Francis DeSales defeated Chagrin Falls 20-6 to win the Division II boys lacrosse title.
Chintala received 56.74% of the vote, beating out Strasburg's Maggie Richards who finished second with 41.63%. There were over 23,000 votes tallied this week!

Camden Bentley, Gahanna Lincoln track and field
Bentley won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.25 seconds, won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.82 seconds and helped the Lions’ 800-meter relay team finish first. She accounted for 30 of Gahanna’s 47 points, leading the Lions to their first team state championship in four years.
Blake Bradford, Sylvania Northview baseball
With St. Ignatius’ bases loaded and a 3-1 lead for Northview, Bradford's final pitch was a strikeout to get the regional final win over the Wildcats.
Azariyah Bryant, Lakota East track and field
Bryant wowed the Columbus crowd by bringing home state titles in the 100 (11.6) and 200 (23.94).
Will Francis, Chardon baseball
Francis went 2-for-2 and had two runs as Chardon took down Louisville 7-3 to win the regional championship.
Piper George, Mariemont lacrosse
Had five goals in Mariemont’s 14-13 overtime win over Chagrin Falls to earn the program’s third state championship.
Troy Lane, Pickerington Central track and field
In his three races, Lane helped rack up 30 points for Central, which finished with 31 points to edge Olentangy Orange (30) for its third championship in the past four state meets. He won the 100 in an eye-popping 10.25, crushing the state record of 10.38.
KK Mathis, Lakota West softball
Hit a two-run homer in the first inning and finished with a team-high three hits. Mathis threw a complete game, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out six as Lakota West defeated Holland Springfield 9-2 to win the Division I state title.
Jacob Miller, Liberty Union baseball
The Louisville signee and MLB Draft prospect limited Ridgewood to one hit and allowed one run while striking out 15 in a 2-1 Division III regional semifinal victory. Also had an RBI double in a 3-1 regional championship win over Fairland.
Morgan Monesmith, Hathaway Brown track and field
The Princeton commit earned a pair of Division I state championship titles in the 800 with a time of 2:09.09 and 1,600 with a time of 4:53.90.
Ryan Piech, Walsh Jesuit baseball
The Xavier recruit pitched a complete game, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out nine to blank Hoover 4-0.
Josiah Raber, Waynedale baseball
Went 4-for-4 with two triples and scored three times as Waynedale topped Hawken 8-2 to earn its first regional championship since 2016.
Maggie Richards, Strasburg softball
With Strasburg leading 3-1 in the top of the seventh inning, Lincolnview had runners on second and third with two outs. Richards made the game-winning play at the plate after a runner scored and threw the ball toward home to tag the runner out and take the Division IV title 4-2 over the Lancers. Richards also had an RBI double in the fourth inning.
Danielle Robbins, Jonathan Alder softball
Finished with three runs, two hits and an RBI in a 5-0 shutout win over Oak Harbor in a Division II semifinal playoff game.
Carter Wachtel, Triway softball
Wachtel allowed two hits, no runs and struck out 15 to shut out Heath 3-0 and earn a ticket to the state championship. In the championship matchup vs. Jonathan Alder, she threw a complete game and allowed just one walk on two hits while striking out 10 to defeat the Pioneers and take home the Division II state title.
Jayson Williams, Glenville track and field
Led Glenville to its 17th state championship, winning the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:27.06 and finishing second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 37.91 seconds.
