Oklahoma's best high school baseball players: Meet the state's top second basemen

Even with the baseball season having ended, SBLive continues to look at the best players in Oklahoma.

In this segment, we feature the top second basemen across all classifications.

This is not meant to be a comprehensive list, as there are numerous great second basemen statewide. Let us know about any second basemen you think should be added. 

Hunter Condon | Ada | SR

Condon, who can also play third base and pitch, has signed with Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. As a junior, he batted .313 with five home runs and 37 RBIs.

JayShaun Sykes | Moore | SO

Sykes shows promise as one of the state's top young players to watch and has shown what he can do against some of the top teams in his classificiation. He went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in an early April game against Westmoore and also went 3-for-4 a few days later and drove in three runs against Capitol Hill. Sykes has also gone 2-for-2 in a game against Choctaw and 3-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases against Edmond Memorial.

Hank Heiselbetz | Edmond North | SR

Heiselbetz has committed to play next season at Oklahoma Christian. As a senior for the Huskies, he has hit three home runs. In an April 16 game against Putnam City North, Heiselbetz tied a school record with eight RBIs in a 16-5 win, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run.

Zeb Henry | Bartlesville | JR

A talented middle infielder, Henry can also pitch for the Bruins. He went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs while scoring twice in a 14-3 win against Booker T. Washington on April 5. In a 4-1 win on April 11 against Stillwater, which extended the Bruins' winning streak to six straight games, Henry went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

Brodie Hinson | Midwest City Carl Albert | JR

Hinson is a switch hitter who has already won a state title ring, having been part of the Titans' 2021 5A state championship squad as a sophomore. This season, he has a .544 slugging percentage with 36 hits and 37 runs scored. Hinson also has stolen 23 bases.

Ryan Huntley | Norman | SR

Huntley entered the 6A regional round batting .402 with a .542 on-base average. He also hit 10 doubles and scored 38 runs. In his final regular-season home appearance, Huntley went 2-for-2 and drove in a run in the Tigers' 8-2 win against 3A title contender Oklahoma Christian School on April 28.

Kris Vuittonet | Altus | SR

On his Twitter page talking about his senior season, Vuittonet remarked that he "put in work and got results." The results speak for themselves, as he hit .533 with an on-base percentage of .600 and a slugging percentage of .850. He had four home runs, 34 RBIs, 10 doubles, six triples and 42 runs scored, and was also 21-of-23 in stolen base attempts.

Landon Bunch | Collinsville | SR

Bunch was recently selected as the District 5A-4 Player of the Year as he helped the Cardinals to a 30-win regular season and a district championship. He was batting .472 prior to regionals with a .540 on-base average. Bunch scored 37 runs and drove in 43 more while recording 60 hits.

Karsen Williams | Anadarko | SR

Williams is a multi-sport athlete, having played quarterback on the football team and guard on the Warrior basketball squad. He also can swing the lumber on the diamond. Williams batted .657 this season with a .750 on-base average and a .943 slugging percentage.

Tyler Offel | Heritage Hall | SR

Offel was a key contributor to the Chargers' run to the 4A state title last season, hitting .355 with a .479 on-base percentage. Offel, who has committed to play next season at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., was batting .505 with an on-base average of .593 and a slugging percentage of .753. He also has 22 stolen bases and 49 runs scored while driving in 47 more.

Braden Browning | Luther | SR

Browning helped set the table for the Lions' offense by stealing 40 bases this season and scoring 37 runs. He batted .461 with an on-base percentage of .551 and a slugging percentage of .899. Browning also recorded five home runs, 12 doubles and six triples.

RJ Morris | Bethel | SO

Morris throws right and hits left and plays second among other utility positions, along with being a pitcher. His coach, Lincoln Dearing, raved about several intangibles Morris possesses, including superior running, a high baseball IQ and the ability to spray hit the ball all over the field.

Mason Ledford | Oktaha | SR

Ledford was a key factor in the Tigers' run to the 2A championship game. In the regular season, he had 36 hits, four of those going for homers. He also drove in 28 runs and scored 32 more.

Brannon Westmoreland | Haskell | JR

Westmoreland plays a number of positions, in addition to playing second base. He can play third and shortstop, and can also pitch and catch as well. At the plate, he has batted .468 with a .792 slugging percentage. Westmoreland also has driven in 32 runs.

Nate Willis | Purcell | SR

In 28 games played, Willis hit .488 with an on-base percentage of .566. He homered twice while driving in 17 runs. In a 14-4 win against Meeker on March 17, he went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs; then in a 7-2 win against Lexington on March 28, Willis was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored.

Ty Conseen | Pryor | JR

Conseen was batting .333 going into the postseason for the Tigers. He scored 28 runs while driving in 15 more. In an early March game against Tulsa NOAH, Conseen was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to help the Tigers prevail. He also had two hits and a run scored in a 10-9 win against McAlester a few days later.

Miles Lock | Edmond Deer Creek | SR

Lock has been a top infielder for the Antlers, who reached the 6A semifinals. He entered the postseason batting .282 with a .429 on-base percentage. Lock has the same total of runs scored as RBIs with 19. In a span of three days in early March, Lock had a total of four hits and drove in five runs as Deer Creek defeated Washington and Putnam City. Lock has committed to play at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid.

Alex Logan | Newcastle | JR

Logan has a .342 batting average and a .465 on-base percentage through the first 34 games for the Racers. He had 24 RBIs and 14 runs scored. On March 28 and 31, Logan had a pair of hits and drove in three runs apiece as the Racers won by identical 16-0 scores against Oklahoma Union and Harding Prep, respectively.

Taber Stokes | Mustang | JR

Stokes can play the middle infield as well as third base. He also has a propensity to get on the base paths. Stokes drew 28 walks and hit 15 doubles. He even hit three sacrifice flies for the Broncos.

Jesse Tisdell | Choctaw | SR

Tisdell has committed to play at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan. Entering the 6A regionals, he had a .659 slugging percentage and hit six home runs while driving in 35. Tisdell also has 46 runs scored while stealing 16 bases.

Zach Burnes | Owasso | SR

Burnes, who has committed to Carl Albert State College, helped the Rams to their recent 6A state championship. In that 7-3 win against Edmond Santa Fe for the 6A title, Burnes executed a successful squeeze bunt to drive in a run. He also had three hits in a March win against Bartlesville.
